I don't think they've said one way or another about it.
If they do go that route though, they reeeeally need to up the exp rewards from quests.
I would like to see it.

Remember in patch 1.18 they added encampments that was to be used as quest hubs?
Yoshida: "Also, we’re planning to introduce various new encampments that will serve as quest hubs".... "In this way, we’re going to gradually increase the number of public areas with quest hubs."

I wonder why they never did anything with them...I had hopes for some interesting open world content thru them. Maybe Hamlet defence in 1.21 will be something good.
IMO we can do without the "Kill 20 rats" quests as a form of progression. I like the current setup where you have repeatable leves to give people a short boost of exp, we can grind if we want, and we have various one-time quests around the world that are a little more story driven and vary between going to places for clicky ???s, killing things for drops, and things inbetween. One of my favorite parts of FFXI was how story driven even the most meaningless questline was, and how some of them had you going all over the world to all sorts of places (even if more often than not the rewards for the quests were absolute garbage). Hopefully in 2.0 when they start focusing more on content than redesigning the core game we will see more of these quests (but with more relevant rewards for your time).
I wouldnt expect them now considering all those scripts and triggers are a lot of work to create and will all ultimately get thrown right into the trash can the second the new world goes live, it's just a waste of development time![]()
there are tons of quest in game, what are you talking aboutI'm looking forward to the changes they are making in the game but am disappointed with the lack of content. fighting an NM over and over isn't content. Fighting Ifrit and a giant moogle isn't content. I know some people don't like pointless quests. Like go kill this or go find that.
They are nice to do in between the main story. It also makes the grind seem less like a grind. If I have to kill 100 bees it's nice to know I'm doing it to save a child from a lethal sting. So SE if you look here please add some more meat to the bones of the game.
I agree with most of you we need something to do. yeah theres alot of quests but for like DoL or DoW you gotta grind to get them. I do not wanna grind till 2.0 im sorry, you got a couple of dungeons fine and a few primals ok. so how many times can you do those by 2.0. I think things have become a bit slow, quests that take 20min are not quests to me or leves that are repetative with no new ones for 10+ levels is just grindomania to me. we have what maybe a total of 4 or 5 company leves. 2 caravans, a few quest and your rnk is maxed. idk we need stuff that takes weeks to accomplish something that keeps us there and i mean quest wise, like a mini expansion or something, this wait till 2.0 is a long time away. yeah 1.21 is coming but how much of it is gonna be content/quest.. getting new jobs will likely be easy and take what a day then back to grinding. I hope the hamlet will give us something to do. I see alot of people have grinded to 50 on everything already.. I mean what are those people gonna do.. the achievements are great but another grind, something to do yes but a repetative thing again. I dont vent much this is definatly one of them. oh and another thing I see 2.0 in almost every thread.. we got over a year for that we needs quests/content new leves and in abundance. the engine thing or graphics or system resorces are bogged down for new stuff to do idk about that, I understand everything is being focused on well you know 2.0 but we need to have stuff that keeps our attention now. I see alot of people log in.. do the new patch in a day or 2 or maybe even 5 days, and then JUST LIKE THAT THERE GONE... they dont log in till next patch, thats not good.
