    need quests

I'm looking forward to the changes they are making in the game but am disappointed with the lack of content. fighting an NM over and over isn't content. Fighting Ifrit and a giant moogle isn't content. I know some people don't like pointless quests. Like go kill this or go find that.

They are nice to do in between the main story. It also makes the grind seem less like a grind. If I have to kill 100 bees it's nice to know I'm doing it to save a child from a lethal sting. So SE if you look here please add some more meat to the bones of the game.

As has been said many times in many different ways...

You cannot build a good house without a foundation. They are essentially rebuilding the foundation on which the game stands; content will come after. If you cannot wait, go play a different game for a year.

For a long time I was like this. I defended SE's failure and hoped they would come out with something great that would blow us all out of the water. This game was in development for 5 years. It's been released for over a year. Compare this game to Rift that came out same time last year.

When it came out it had over a 1000 quests. Now it has even more. I understand we need a solid foundation. You set this before you cut the ribbon. If this had been any other company the plug would have been pulled by now.

If there is no content and I mean real content added I don't know if XIV will make it to 2.0. The people who run this game are business men. At some time they will stop the bleeding of money no matter how many people want the game to continue. Trust me I want this game to succeed but in order for that to happen the players need to be brutally honest and tell SE when they're messing up.

Also on a side note I didn't know this was another thread on this subject. Please pardon me for making another but thanks to those who post.

Exactly, one cannot build a good house without a foundation. Unfortunately I don't see senseless repetitive killing of monsters as a foundation. To me the foundation of a good game are its lore, world and people.

I'm not defending their horrible launch; I completely agree with everything you've stated as far as their existing quests are concerned. They're simplistic, there are too few, and they didn't even exist at launch. I am merely saying that given the current situation, it is better to wait. If Rift intended to rip out the floorboards and place some new groundwork for their game, I would not expect much content until they were finished with that either.

I'm not sure how anyone can "be like this for a long time" since this is the first time that something like this has happened. I'm not here to justify their launch or any of their past decisions; heck, I'm not even saying that what's coming out for 2.0 is even going to be good. Perhaps I take this stance because my day job is software development, but making stuff on a broken foundation is hard and should be avoided if at all possible.

    Here's another analogy for you:
You have to use the restroom, and you are on the highway in a moving car. You can either roll down the window and do your business uncomfortably out the window, or you can wait 'til we get to the rest stop and do it how you're supposed to. Holding it may be unpleasant, but it's generally worth it.

Yes, this forum is here for addressing concerns, and you're welcome to say what you'd like to say. On the other side of that coin is me saying what I like to, but fret not, I have no intention of being a troll and continuing to post in this thread, since I think I got out what I wanted to. I do like making analogies, however!

I like the both of you. I had somehow missed any info about Bastion when it was released, so thanks for that Raldo. Bottoms up. And I agree OP, (I'm the OP of the topic King Zeus linked to), there are not enough quests. Raldo may be right, it may be in our best interests to play something else for a while. If you haven't already, may I suggest Everquest 2? It just went F2P and it has over 6,000 quests. It's been keeping me up at nights lately, and I've been neglecting Skyrim, Skyward Sword and FFXIV in favor of it. Although last night I did get down on some Donkey Kong Country Returns for a while. Anyway, I'll stop with the off-topic chit-chat now.

I can see the wisdom with waiting. SE has been redeeming themselves. I just can't see paying for with such little content

This is one of my main issues with the game.

I'm a quester. I need lore and story-driven content to hold my attention.

Like many players at launch, I had believed that levequests could fill that need. That, even though you started with simple kill-x-number-of-monsters quests, they would evolve into something more. Something with substance, like what you see in the opening movie. Unfortunately, they didn't.

So, when they weren't expanded on and, instead, repositioned as solo content, imagine my excitement when Yoshi-P announced the new mission statement about giving us a variety of leveling options. Quests, real quests, were being implemented in the game, that yielded exp and would be suitable for leveling.

That is, if there were enough of them.

To my dismay, the meat and potatoes of leveling then became old-school grinding parties. Something I walked away from when I quit FFXI four years ago. And that is when I pretty much stopped leveling battle classes altogether.

My concern isn't if 1.0 is going to see an influx of quests. I'm pretty sure that it won't. And I've decided my attention is better spent until 2.0 on games like WoW and SW:TOR that can fulfill my need for questing.

But can someone please answer us if FFXIV 2.0 will be restructured so that it will finally include real quest-based leveling? Will quests take center stage and not just be an afterthought?
