    SB quest gear

Hi - I'm hoping someone can help me with a question. I plan to use a boost to get to 60 and then create a Samurai. I would like to boost to maybe a Black Mage so that I can play both Samurai (physical dps) and a magic dps class on one character.

However, someone mentioned to me that if I boost a Monk to 60, then I can outfit my Samurai with the Monk gear when I get to level 60. Is that really a big deal? Will my Samurai be able to get equivalent level 60 gear just through SB quests (meaning I'm fine with boosting a Black Mage) or should I just boost a Monk if Samurai will be my main class anyway? Thanks!

In the course of getting your Samurai to 60 and going through the quests, you're going to be getting plenty of gear for it anyway. I'd go for the one you want to have at that level over the one that will give you one easy set of gear. (Since you're boosting something above 50 in order to unlock SAM, I'm assuming you don't have anything that high yet, so still have lots of Main Scenario quests to go through. Those should reward enough gear for you.)

I would like to add, since you're using a level boost, just as Niwashi is saying, you will have 500+ quests, that you need to complete before even reaching stormbloods content.

By that time, you will have not only as mentioned, accumulated enough job specific gear, you will also have enough tome stones of poetics, these currency can be used at level 60, in exchange for ilvl 260 gear and also their update components to get ilvl 270 out of that, therefore you wouldn't have to do Monk, if you chose not to go that route.

Since you can purchase the gear mentioned for any job you have level'd to level 60, without that you even play it. While it is true, that the gear that comes with the potion is ilvl 258 and can be used for either, the monk or your samurai, since the sets are shared.

Same as for black mage and summoner, those share sets with the current new red mage, however all the gear that you can purchase with these tomes, will be significantly better then the crafted gear, that comes with the potion itself.

Just chose the job you want, gear at this point for level 50 and 60 as well as leveling to 70 is a absolute no brainer and very easy and quickly to come by. Level 70 is a different story tho lol.
