    Vsync in Ati... it's possible?

First, excuse me for my poor english

I play Final Fantasy XIV in a 42" tv. My equip is:

    Intel Core i5 2500k sb
    8gb ram
    Ati HD6850x2 (cf)

I play everything at maximum (only uncheck Ambient Oclusion) in fullscreen mode and the tearing it's incredible

I force Vsync in catalyst control, but nothing happens.

Square plans to enable Vsync in the future?

    Thanks a lot

I've been suffering from the same awful tearing problems, and forced Vsync in Catalyst Control Center is notoriously useless with most games.

Odds are we're stuck holding out until the new graphics engine and hoping it either doesnt have tearing issues or has in-game vsync support

I've read a few old reports of people using MSI Afterburner to replace the CCC and using that to force vsync with more success, but it's not exactly a supported tool and is mostly used for overclocking (so you can do some serious damage if you misuse it).

I use Radeon Pro (http://www.radeonpro.info/) to force it.

    Just check you set this:

You are playing in windowed mode?

If YES ATI crossfire config can't set up VSync with this setup (under FFXIV)

    1)Play in fullcreen mode

2)Use a single card (sorry about this ;_

Probably Square never fix this problem with ATI card...cause FFXIV is a game from TWIMTBP program.

    I'm not the OP but:

    1) I do play exclusively in fullscreen at the native resolution of my monitor (1900x1200)

    2) I only have one card, a Radeon HD 5850 1GB.

Forcing Vsync in the catalyst control center does nothing, it's a common issue with forcing Vsync in CCC for many many games. I'll have to look into RadeonPro to see if it gives better results. And Square *can* fix the issue regardless of what kind of video card the user is running by building application level Vsync into the games graphics engine like at least 90% of other AAA PC titles do. The question is considering that the game is still free to play, the playerbase is abysmally low still, and they're already working on an entirely new graphics engine for the game to better suit lower-end PCs and consoles, whether or not it's even worth it for them to spend the time and resources adding native vsync to the current game to help out the minority of players currently experiencing this issue. My money is on "no."

Update: I gave radeonpro a try exactly like what was posted and there is Success! Not a single instance of screen tearing in about the hour I played. The camera seems a little more "rough" and I might catch a jittery frame every now and then (which would be the game actually *waiting* to finish drawing the frame before displaying the next), but thats generally how vsync works anyway.

Props to the person who suggested radeonpro. Now if only someone could figure out the awful camera stuttering when walking up/down slopes like its getting caught on everything.

Yeap, pretty much we are stuck on what we have on the engine until 2.0. Minor changes are ok but changing something like that will mean a lot of work and they wont do int. The main reason of the new engine is to be able to display more than 20 charactes at the same time. The current engine must be a really mess to don't be able to change that on the fly.
