2/10. Awful.
From a Feast perspective this is pretty horrible, 1/10. I haven't tried ranged, tank, or healer but melees are pretty boring to play now with these overly simplistic rotations. I know SE frowns upon competition but this is pretty extreme to water down the mode as much as they have the past few updates. The changes would have been nice if restricted to Frontlines but it doesn't belong in Feast imo if its supposed to be a mode that distinguishes players based on skill. Not that it matters anymore anyway, with the exception of the hardcore niche community that PVP religiously, PVP has always widely been regarded as a joke in this game and these changes will just further that viewpoint at least from the perspective of Feast. Therefore SE should probably focus more on putting out casual oriented PVP modes like Frontlines in the future which I believe is their intent anyway based on the changes the last few updates. Not that there is anything wrong with that as Frontlines is a very enjoyable game mode in its own right and has its place ingame but its disappointing they couldn't live up to the vision they had for Feast back when they used to tout it as an "E-sport" in the making.
Apologies in advance, I didn't read the thread but I do have a question...as a SMN, how do I summon Ifrit/Garuda in PvP? I can't seem to figure out how to get my pet out >.<
Also I don't like this PvP at all...it is totally changed and forces me to play one way....can't even figure out how to get out my pet...which is what Summoner is all about. So weird lol. PVP seems WAY too simple now..fights are over so fast. No thought process or duel type feeling...it just feels like 1, 2, 3 fight is over. PvP is a 0/10 now, so glad I did it when it was fun.

8! I am in love. I very much like the new format especially for someone that uses a controller to pvp.
I like the fact that I don't have to level my job to unlock the skills 'necessary' for pvp. It's like playing a kind of MOBA I would say, wherein I pick a 'job' and then pvp.
My only issue is that with 2 healers (or even just 1), people just don't die. you can say that we should be disabling the healer (eg. silence/stun) and then bursting people down but you can't expect that to happen in a match. unlike MOBAs that have a top down view that can give you almost all the information you need to make quick decisions, it's not like that in pvp. The chat options also feel a little bit limited since there is no "I'm low on HP." or a chat for when your important skills are on cd.
7/10
They seriously need to implement a few crucial things for PVP;
- Report players who purposefully throw matches
- Match Wolves Den / Feast players with other players of their respective ranks (don't match a newbie with a Diamond player)
- Allow chat to help synergize team plays (tell party members when I'm about to use Chain Stratagem, etc)
SE did a few things right:Separating PvE and PvP balance reduces the complexity of balance by stopping one change from affecting the other. I do not understand why other MMORPGs have not done this.
- Separating PvE and PvP balance
- Creating a decent PvP game mode where every role matters
Since medals increase damage taken, tanks are needed as medal holders. DPS do DPS, and healers heal. On paper, this makes a lot of sense.
Now, the stupid poor decisions:XIV's client, very obviously, requests for validation of commands from the server before the command actually goes off. This is why there is a delay between you pushing a button and the animation coming out.
- Latency
- Disabling chat
The other issue with the latency is that queuing commands is impossible. In every MMO I've played, you can queue an action during the last bit of a cast, or 0.1 - 0.2 seconds before the GCD is complete. Not only does XIV disallow queuing, which I can live with, it also ****ing drops commands. This makes PvP feel like a ***ing slideshow and screams poor implementation to me.
And as for the chat: why the flaming **** would you disable chat in a team based environment? Temp ban or warn the toxic players but don't ****ing remove chat entirely.
On paper, the PvP idea is absolutely amazing. The actual implementation, due to the two major flaws above, detract so greatly from the actual experience I've found PvP increasingly frustrating the more I play it.
3/10 from me.
