Yes but I would like them to look a bit more ferocious.

I'd love to see A Lupin race, just not what we got. Every time I'm interacting with those Lupin npcs it has some kind of uncanny valley feel to it like it's not quite where it should be.
I'm all for Lupin players but one thing that puzzles me: how would hairstles be handled? It seems like the outcry is for hairstyle equality but just imagining some current hairstyles on them... looks pretty goofy.
I'm wondering this myself, along with the facial customization. I mean...it's one thing to be different from the players playing other races. It's another entirely to make a character that "feels" like you while standing out from the other players playing the same race as you. I think that's where I and everyone else stating customization in general needs to be improved before we implement a beast-like race because they suffer from our current tools more than any other humanoid race will. I mean, could you change the snout? The mane color? I imagine tail shape is a given, but what else? There's going to be 4 face options like everyone else, I assume, so how in the world could they make them different enough while still looking wolfish?
I'd like to see them be playable. We could do hair styles like fur and marking patterns instead. Foxy lupin.. red pandas.. then we just pick the colors.. ooooh
That said I want to know more about them.
I have many things in the game that I find a waste of dev resources yet I would not post for it to be gone just because I have no interest in it. (Savage content, that feature for screenshots and more) Also if we see it like that we should never have a new race at all. It takes quite the work to create it and yet the best it will do, is that people will switch from one race to the other, especially if its still human like.
You should not introduce a new race with the mind that "x amount" of people should play it. Because if you only do it when a certain amount plays it you will need either this amount in the form of new players or have people just switch to another race. (Which would make this race less played too) So if we argue like that we should never get Viera because people would just switch over anyway. This amount of work could have been used to make the existing races more diverse.
So if they ever decide to make a new race it should not be with the mind of getting x amount of players to play it but with the mind of more diversity and a really beastly race would be better for that, than just another human race with some animal additions.
Also for characterization: We only meet the Lupin in Doma, they could easily say that there are other tribes of Lupin who look a bit different. So instead of choosing a face and stuff like that you could chose a certain tribe that will come with certain features (bigger snout, different ears). Then you could still change some of those things, like the length of the tail, the color of the fur, the height of the character. Maybe give them certain body tattoos or different kind of scars. You might not be able to wear the normal hair styles but fur can be styled different too so there would be still some customization done.
For the helmet you could easily put a warning in the character creator that this race cant wear helmets. So anyone that chooses it does it in the knowledge of not being able to wear helmets. (We can get helmets but they just simply wont be shown) Make the female and male version similar (and not something where the female is cute or things like that). There is a high chance that I would change into something like that, if things like walking, emotes and stuff is looking fine too. And lets be realistic, as long as the character can punch their hands together and nod, they are fine to emote in a cutscene. We barely do anything else anyway.![]()
So even if we do not get the Lupin as a playable race I really hope that the next race is more beastly and not cute like the current ones. Otherwise you could really just put all the work into the other existing ones to create more diversity with them.
Also about them making no sense: One could argue that if they are not really existing ingame but they do and we know that they are not like the other beast tribes but they are living among the other people in Doma. And would Garlemald really use them as soldiers if they want to kill every beast tribe alive to stop summoning their primal? So it seems to me that they are not like the common beast tribe. Also lets not forget that SE did not care that much about lore when they introduced the Au Ra. So the only thing where it would feel a little off is at that time where we fought the wolf people the first time and the NPCs reacted to it. But this already happened with Au Ra WoL and Yugiri.

Well, as an idea, helmets may not be able to be visible, but hats and other things, such as the Bard's Choral Chapeau, which don't need to conform to a head shape could possibly still be visible, with just a change of tilt so the hats don't look like they're going down to the snout or blocking their vision entirely. Much like how only certain pieces can be adjusted with the /visor command, only certain pieces can be visible on a Lupin's head.
Hmm... I am interesting in Lupin (wolf) because I'm looking forward to becoming a playable character or a main NPC character in the story of FFXIV.
