I prefer Viera, but if they were to add a Lupin, I rather they look like the Lupus race from Bless Online. The current Lupin look like a Hyur with a mask.

I feel as though if they did add them as a beast tribe they could have put more resources in making them a lot better looking like all the other beast tribes.
I would love them as a playable race. And with the All Saints Wake 2017 event, it seems to me that SE is integrating the Lupin across Eorzea. It'd be nice to have a non-"humanoid" race to play running around in the world of XIV.
But I guess we'll see what they have plans on for them in the future in the upcoming patches til next expansion.
Game on!!!

I changed my whole getup to become a "blonde" wolf. I love it! I doubt I'd change to a Lupin/Viera race myself, but I love the option to dress up like them. That's what I love about Hyur, they can become anything!
I support this idea, id change to lupin in a heartbeat! SE GIZ UZ DOGMEN PLZ!
@Alacran
Well it truly depends on ones perspective but I do find quite a lot of the beast tribes good looking. I am not really talking about looking sexy for us humans or stuff like that but more about them looking fitting. Each of them has their own things going on, which makes them stand out quite a bit. I just wish that they do a more lively face for the Kojin since those still look way too stiff.
I was not really sure if the Lupin would not look stiff too but the recent event showed that they can emote just fine. Also like some has pointed out, dogs and other animals can emote quite a bit. And stuff like sadness or surprise should be quite possible with them too (which can be seen with the Lupin).
@Laerune: Well they just have to introduce the long awaited bunny set for males. (Anyway my post was kinda ironic since its somehow fine if we get some kind of tail, feet and ears that have barely anything to do with the beast tribe and that its kinda just another human with animal traits look)
Letter from the Producer LIVE Part IX Q&A Summary (10/30/2013)
Q: Will there be any maintenance fees or other costs for housing, besides the cost of the land and house?
A: In older MMOs, such as Ultima Online, there was a house maintenance fee you had to pay weekly, but in FFXIV: ARR we decided against this system. Similarly, these older MMOs also had a system where your house would break down if you didn’t log in after a while in order to have you continue your subscription, but this is a thing of the past and we won't have any system like that.
I vote yes because they are adorable and the more races the better. Also I want those sabatons he has on, they remind me so much of ffxi for some reason.
Strix: "Behold this collection of grimoires of legend! Feel their power and puissance, and let it fill you with rapturous pleasure...then DIE!"

Hai! I'm Vahl, in ur mmorpgs, sort'n my inventory and putt'n 2 many H's in my name since FFXI..FFXIV Inventory Tetris Champ
Bestiality is between a human and a feral animal, my friend. Lupin are technically humanoid, "human" being the keyword.

Coming from what I have picked up from the content currently available regarding the Lupin, they wouldn't seem too unlike to make sense in FF.
Known them to be loyal to the Doman emperor for decades (as someone stated before as well) they seem to have a fairly interesting lore in Doma. Recalling Yugiri not revealing her face in order not to scare the Eorzeans first felt like and interesting similarity to the Halloween Event with the Lupin walking among Eorzeans only that night so they would not be scared as well. Him exploring the world was a nice way to make one set paw on Eorzean ground.
Now the war is over and Hien being all for "live your life and fulfill your dreams" I wouldn't be surprised, as for a rational explanation for the Lupin to walk among Eorzeans, that they are either becoming explorers of the rest of the world or simply being send over to Eorzea to support them in their task as returning the favor just like the Eorzeans did in Doma forming a ocean wide alliance against the Garlear.
Having seen the werewolf boots and wearing them myself, I'm glad to see the issue of the risen heel has been solved and allowing them to walk on their paws instead of boots constantly.
As for the toof, I'd assume SE would defenitly refine them more if they become a playable race. Just like there are options to design your char but looking at npc's of the same race, i.e. M'iqote, most npc's if not special due to story involvement, have a puffed up pancake face, which is fine since a no name npc can look mediocre imo.

Someone posted this as an example to variety for female models. Even the charr from GW2 without significant female body attributes, their faces are easy to spot more soft in expression and more slender in shape in comparison to the males being more bulky and wider in shoulders.
Emotes I could imagine would be easy to express as well using ears and tail as a tool to do so.
Just my humble thoughts on the subject and just a hand full of hints I was somewhat able to gather from the game.

So using that picture above as an example, will the male also have similar features (an almost human face, lack of fur around the chest, etc), or will they be as the Lupin look? Not a fan of either option, because I'd personally like Lupin as they are to be playable and the females not be given the 'human with animal parts' treatment (something I've noticed with some games).

If you ask for my humble thoughts, I'd assume the muzzle would be like the Lupin, not moving too far away from the original male version currently in the game, for the females, just with a little more gentle face and softer in appeal. I agree with you on that point, that the Lupin faces are good as they are. Refering to the image above given a wolf face with fur and ears there still would be room for hairstyles if the toof around the neck would be thinned out for the slender neckline.
To make an anthromorphic female wolf look female by just the face appeal and still keeping the significant shape of the wolf face inlcuding snout, ears, fur and everything a wolf has is often seen in other games

As seen in this example being a female wolf with a slim neckline and room for hairstyles if wanted
