Lupin - make it a playable race!

Change eye colour? Easy.
If you've seen the level 17 cutscene in Eureka, you'd know that Lupin are only really 'furry' around their heads. While still furry around their chest, you can actually see their muscles.
Probably borrow some from Miqo'te and Roegadyn (Au Ra males have a few Roegadyn voices, if I recall) as well as some new voices
Telling the difference between the genders is where it'll be tricky, unless they have a few different features to set them apart from the males (that do NOT make the females more human in appearance like some games tend to do)
Hairstyles is another thing.

You took my comment too literal, those wete not questions to be answered in a literal sense as it was questioned to bring up the lack of actual customization, for what I asked is virtually all that can be done for the Lupin

I've said this before, all they need to do is add a Lupin mask/helmet and furry fans are good to go. Use the halloween gloves and feet to complete and ta-dah you are a furry! No need to make a whole race out of it, please...

Thats just as terrible of a suggested alternative as telling the people who want viera to just wear the bunny ears.

But it works and is better than your Viera excuse. Sure you won't be able to color your fur or eyes or adjust your ear size I guess but that is mostly what customs they will get. This would just be simpler for them to do because this would not be a race highly in command or used.

Anyway, Viera lore in XII and Tactics Advance will most likely no be present in FFXIV (playable or not), as it would be (to me) pretty lazy to just copy-paste from one game to another. They'll likely do to them what they're doing to the Ivalice story: completely new lore and not Elezen/Padjal 2.0.

Also, skin/fur colour is a non-issue. Roegadyn Sea Wolves are just different shades of green, for example. Hairstyles is the only issue, but if SE are smart about it, they could use real dogs as an example (seriously, depending on the breed, some dogs are capable of having hairstyles if the owner chooses to). Alleo also mentioned braids.

Sigh...it's not going to work. It really isn't, some of you are fanatical if you think the devs are going to ignore hair and replace it by looking at breeds of dog. If you do this you're already making Lupins non Lore friendly. Practiclly breaking the meta.

Like adding mods to a game that's not suppose to have said features. It just doesn't make sense.

So just because Viera is probably more likely to be the next race we are not allowed to wish for the Lupins to be a race too? Its a wish, simple as that.

Also disguishable features: Rabbit ears, different feets and a tail..I mean you dont even know if they have the same features as the other FF Vieras and in the end they are just Hyur with rabbit parts.

And again just because the lupins right now dont have much customization doesnt mean that they coulnd have some.

I will leave this though: They will not do any big retcons of lore to fit any race into the game. Should they ever add another race, they will add one thats appealing to a wide audience while taking the least amount of work possible. I still don't see Lupin fitting that.
You also seem to confuse lore (overall history/background of the world) with the Player characters personal story within said world. Both of these affect each other, as they should; but they don't technically break each other.

Oh I did read your long post, I just dont agree with it. You might see it as big retcons of lore and this is fine because opinions are subjective but for me it would not be more of a retcon than just introducing Viera:

- Both come from a country that had no real contact to Eorzea at the start of ARR.
- Both dont have an appearance right now in the city states
- Both are beastly, with the Lupin having the head which is a bit more than normal races.

So they also need to put the Viera in a world that before that had no visible Viera. The same with the Au Ra in HW or any other new race. So we as the player just completely have to ignore that we know, that they were not part of the countries before that.

But they also lay the ground for both. Viera are name dropped in Dalmasca and the first Lupin was already in Eorzea. All I am saying is that they could just use that to write both of them in it and since Garlemald uses Lupins they are seemingly not considered as beast tribe. So at least a bit less of a problem than for example the Ixal. (And lets not forget that some scholars still wonder if Au Ra might have dragons or void sents as anchestors, yet nobody is afraid of us)

In the end this is a wish thread. It does not mean that it has to happen and honestly like other said: Fantasia, glamour, flying turtles and things like that are already breaking the immersion. Honestly before we get just another race which are mostly humans with some animal parts, I would have more customization for the existing races, thus they truly wont need any change of the story at all.

And thus FFXIV became a dog groomer. I can't even... wrap my head around this, haha. (Edit: wolves' fur does not infinitely grow like some breeds of dogs, sheep, et cetera. It would be a problematic for the wolves if it did. While this is fantasy, it's just... nonsensical, no offence.)

Why? It is a world where a turtle is flying, a Rex is swimming in the air, a small race can take on something that is way bigger without any problems. Just look up Worgen of WoW. They dont have the biggest customization but there can be different styles.
