My favorite, most memorable part of starting to play ffxiv was first acquiring my chocobo companion. Unfortunately through the years new mounts have come along and other than being a heal bot for solo content my buddy sees little play time. So i have thought of a few different ideas for reincorporating my chocobo champ back into the game.

Chocobo knight-new tank class that rides the chocobo during combat
Chocobo assisted gathering/crafting
Make chocobo more powerful tanks to help with soloing FATEs
Chocobo members in squadrons

What other thoughts do you have!?
