I hope SE learns a few lessons from this.

First and foremost, upgrade your god forsaken servers. This is 2017. Many MMOs have smooth launches now, thanks to mega capacity servers. We are tired of hearing congestion and bandwidth issues. And whatever happened to retainer storage increase? We have hundreds of new items (crafting mats, glamour, etc) and you expect us to take care of that with 40 new inventory slots? Come on.

Second, please get rid of solo instances. Clearly you can't afford to run them and quite frankly, they are not anything special. You just fight a few mobs everytime, which you can easily place in open world.

Last but not least, I hope you have learned that locking literally everything behind MSQ isn't a good idea after all. Now people can't proceed with other zones, sidequests, aether currents or any dungeon unlocks. It's ridiculous that 95% of this expansion is still locked. And thanks to your obsession with MSQ, the endgame will be lacking again, but that's a whole another essay to write. It's an unpleasant journey and an unpleasant destination. Expansions are supposed to be new beginnings, pleasant ones.

They did, the issue is that we are experiencing an extreme (and very temporary) load, extra servers would be a waste of resources.

WoW is literally the only one I can think of, and this game doesn't have the resources that WoW has. Even then, every WoW expansion except legion experienced problems.

    See the first point.

This is standard for MMO expansions, anyone who thinks that they are entitled to anything, or that this is extreme is woefully naive/uninformed. I didn't take the day off because I anticipated some sort of server stability issue (because that makes sense).

They learned...that it was only temporary and a waste of ressource to have bigger server 24/7

It's 2017 and there are virtual on demand servers from at least a dozen companies in California alone. You don't need to buy or even rent physical hardware for a short term burst.

Not the servers, you don't put a bottle neck like this right at the beginning, no one has time to spread out in their pprogress.

thing is its bad enough it won't be a temporary problem because the number of people trying will only go up from here unless people leave in mass from this issue which would also be bad for the game

While I'm annoyed about this aswell, I cant agree with your second point and only half agree with your third.

To your second point: as long as they're working I prefer solo instances over killing a few mobs in the open world. Its way nicer for the storytelling if its only you killing those mobs and not having 10 other people spawning and zerking down the excat same three mobs aswell. Killing quest-mobs in the open world never feels like actually doing something relevant to me. Instances are much better at storytelling. (It looks better on my screens too if its not cluttered with other people)

To your third point: right now I'm really not thrilled by not having access to levequests for example. But in general I like the story-focus this game has. I like progressing with the story to see new areas, dungeons, trials. This game and this series has always been very story-heavy and while that obviously sucks during times like this, I'm actually playing this game for that experience and I would like the story to be an actual, important part of the game - not some extra cutscene-bunddle-type of thing.
The MSQ-block will pass. I can wait. And I want to wait for a story that has a certain relevance and impact, that feels as if its actually meanigful and important - because thats what I want from an FF-game.

For all those who never played Final Fantasy XI; which was their first MMO... They had 15 years to sort out this type of issue. Let that sink in... 12-15 years ago players lines were a thing in FFXI.
