Legitimate question: How are we being compensated for the expansion atrocity?

Stormblood is on early access and bugs can tend to appear, but what happened and is currently still happening with the instanced fights has, for all intended purposes, denied over 90% of the player population access the the digital good experience and service that is the story, one of the main advertised key features of Stormblood.

How are we going to get compensated for this? Peoples times were wasted and the level of frustration in all sorts of boards and forums regarding this game is astronomical. Most of us will not accept a "you knew what you signed up for" or a "its fixed (eventually), get over it" type of response.

The problem was easily foreseeable and Square Enix did a massive marketing campaign for the expansion so it was evident that player influx was going to be high yet preparations were not made.

I see my friends and other people so much as even mention something past that accursed bottleneck quest and I can feel myself get angry, very angry.

So, what are you planning to do about this after it is eventually fixed, SE and FFXIV dev. team?

a lot of the problems they face would likely be minimized if they would open a public test realm like so many other online companies. weirdly people will test their game for free, and yet they still insist on in-house testing.

How would it help, though? The issue is servers that can't handle the load. Do you expect such a test server to handle the same volume of players as the live servers? Seems like an excessive expectation. Whether or not it would or could, that would also mean taking players away from the live servers, which would impact players on the live servers by reducing the number of people queuing up for various duties.

I'm just not convinced that a test server would have ever revealed any of these issues. Lesson learned. We'll just have to hope they know better now and avoid instanced content so early. And/or beef up their instance servers. Either way, the big takeaway here is make sure you've got content that spreads players out enough to mitigate congestion.

Stress testing a server in terms of player volume is quite easy. Datacenters do it all the time, as does my company. Look at it like this...from the game's perspective (the code) players are all just entities, the more entities the more stress there is on the servers underlying hardware as it takes more processing power and ram to render said entities as well as the environment for said entities. This can easily be replicated since they had the exact amount of people who purchased the pre-order. They could then fill the environment with entities (which can be done, it's the same concept as an npc) to see how the server will react under load (also as a general rule of thumb when running/setting up any server you want to account for at minimum a 15% overhead in resources needed).

These are basic procedures when creating not only games but anything that has a server to client relationship. The procedure hasn't changed in over 20 years, so no clue why they don't plan ahead and follow a proven procedure that works. SE isn't the only one guilty of this either, so I'm not saying it's just them. I'm saying that these kinds of things shouldn't be happening, and if they do well then you should fire your staff because they shouldn't be anywhere near a server. Now nothings perfect and things do happen but it also says a great deal about you and your company in the way in which you deal with it and update your customers.

I think quite a few would be.

-The Raubahn one? Possibly not, depending how many players actually test.

-There's a FATE in The Fridges that cannot successfully complete, the last enemy respawns the moment you kill it until the timer runs out, This could have been fixed.

    - A mandatory duty that can potentially prevent you from logging into the game once completed? My GOD yes this could have been addressed, easily. This is EXACTLY the sort of bug that can, should, and would be addressed by a beta period.

IIRC, I think people got a 15 day extension out of the Heavensward EA launch fiasco.

Don't quote me on that since that's entirely off the top of my head but I do remember players got something.

Susano apparently has a chance at locking people out of the remainder of early access. If we weren't getting time for the bottleneck, heres to hoping we'll be getting something now :/
