A select few people in my FC have gotten past, and while we're a fairly close knit FC, people are starting to get anxious and antagonistic at each other over this thing. This is starting to have a snowball effect. Telling people that there's other things to do can only go so far, when this whole thing is starting to result in events that shouldn't be happening. My own raid group is literally about to split because of this, because one of our tanks has already unsubbed and his close friends are considering following. Spending the first few days of EA looking for a new raid group is not what I imagined doing.

The duty doesn't exist in a vacuum, this is becoming a disaster on a community level. People who get in can't enjoy what's there out of fear of failure. People trying to do the duty can't do anything else, and have to devote hours into the effort. People who made it past can't play with their friends that are still trying to get past the gauntlet. All of us know that the official launch is still days away, and yet the vast majority of players are still stuck at a duty one hour into the expansion. Wasn't the entire point of Early Access was to get a head start?

Then there's concerns about the game design and balance. At this point, literally everyone in EA is going to overlevel the main quest by a huge margin. There won't be any feedback from a minimal gear level, because most people are going to be level synced down to the highest possible stats for those instances, which means no one is going to see what's happening from the perspective of a new player that decides to start the game months after this fiasco has ended.

Speaking as a former forum moderator of another MMO that has seen how incidents like this change the community over the long term... It's a very worrying thing. This erodes community confidence by the hour, and it is far easier to lose someone's trust than to gain it.

I can confirm that some people have been trying for hours. Today alone I have been at it for ~18.5 hours so far. Started at 3 AM eastern and I am still doing it right now (using my feet to talk to Raubahn and skipping the cutscene). Yesterday, I think I started Coldsteel at 9 or 10 AM eastern and went to midnight so 14-15 hours yesterday. So in total, I have exceeded 30 hours of attempting to get in. Tonight, I plan on an all nighter in an attempt to get through.

I'm generally either watching anime, reading ebooks, browsing the forum, or playing Mon Hun with my hands while talking to Raubahn with my feet.

I am prepared to shave off a couple years of my lifespan for this.

Yes, some people have taken the complaints too far - that doesn't mean that the vast majority are not valid.

I think the OP was speaking specifically to those that are indeed taking it too far. People that are demanding Yoshi get fired or demanding SE literally give over all of their online games to another company because of a few days of server problems. Yeah we should all be reporting this, yeah we should all be making sure SE and the dev team know we're having problems, but the sheer vitriol coming from some of these complaints is just....well, kinda depressing. I absolutely love this community, but it became as toxic as a F2P forum quick. People are showing their true colors, for sure.

It doesn't really matter what else you wish to call it. The point is that yes, it's frustrating and disappointing, but there is a way to handle it like an adult and there is a way to handle it like a petulant child. An unfortunate number of people are choosing the latter and yelling and screaming, making up conspiracy theories about why they disconnected, and generally doing anything else other than getting up and walking outside because life is too short to be angry about video games.

I don't know. Maybe I've just been inoculated having played WoW and other MMOs for the better part of a decade dealing with numerous expansions and patches replete with bugs and crashes and all manner of annoyances. Maybe it's just a difference in how I was raised. Whatever the reason is, I just don't see any good reason to let yourself get angry over a video game and act like an idiot because of that.

The validity of the complaint isn't terribly relevant to the question of whether or not someone has taken it too far. If people are hurling abuse at SE staff or otherwise throwing a tantrum, it really doesn't matter whether their complaint is valid or not. The way they're behaving is shameful and ridiculous. Most of us here are adults. Being upset is not a reason to stop acting like it.

Sometimes the best thing you can do when you're frustrated is to step away from it. If there's a problem that isn't related to congestion, it'll be taken care of as soon as the dev team finds a solution. You have complaints and issues you want them to know? Point them out as calmly as you can,be concise, and let your personal feelings not undermine the issue you're trying to highlight.

I reported him and received a GM response less than an hour later that they had a lot of reports on him and would be taking action. Report public idiocy.

I don't like that there is no queueing though. Even if I saw a several hour queue, ok, fine, I could run around doing other things, and have something I could actually monitor for progress. But when I see other people in my FC/LS go "it's easy, just keep trying, I clicked for an hour and got through!!".. yeah, it's bothering me. I've done more than that with nothing at all to show, other than aggravating RSI issues in my hands. The areas and music so far are beautiful, and I can't wait to really dig into DoH/DoL content, and try out diving.. but nope, here I am hoping that I can get through before GC deliveries asks me for items I can't get on my own yet.

Your story is suspicious because their policy is to not tell you if or what they're doing.
