To combo macro or not to combo macro? A Samurai question.

Okay, I've got a question for the community. Since nearly all of us have been experimenting with Samurai, I would like to ask folk's views on macroing some of those combos down. The three single target combos ALONE take up most of a hotbar (assuming you want to get all three Sen for Midare Setsugekka). And I have to wonder if that .10 second delay between actions is worth it to drop from 6 buttons to 3 or 4 (depending on setup)?

Mind, I know it's only day two, and practice will do a lot to help smooth things out, but having 5 different combos of various kinds (not even counting kenki later, I haven't unlocked that at all) seems a bit ridiculous to me. Thoughts?

Hahahahahahaha! Yeah, that's my general leaning on it too. I hate macros in general unless they're just to have text or something, so I may just spend more time at the training dummies.

General experience from macros that do combos or a sequence of abilities for any class/job is that it is better and a dps increase if you don't do macros. Leave the macros for minor things that don't affect your rotation or to the crafters. You are better without.

I wouldn't want to Macro the main combos, but I have been thinking of Macro'ing Third Eye into most of my main Combos so I have a higher frequency of the 5% dmg block leading to other oGCD skills and I can clear up a hotbar space. I would like to hear anyone elses Macro ideas for Samurai, I think there are definitely some Macros we can think of that will help simplify something here or there.

This will put a slight delay in the execution of every move you macro it with and will hinder your DPS. Hotbar space really shouldn't even be a problem.

If you want to be like the fabled frost mages, or people who only do a single combo and forgo the rest of their abilities you could make macro's cause macro's add time to when the next ability activates and you do less DMG and it scales worse the longer the fight you are in. I use 3 main hotbars for my abilities and even then I wouldn't fill them up to use them all for SAM at 70. Maybe try a completely different hotbar set-up and if you don't use a MMO style mouse try moving your movement keys to the center of the keyboard for hotkkeys to the left and right of your movement keys
