OwO what's this
I've played some games as Scholar today, and my god Scholar feels very powerful and a lot more enjoyable than Astro does. If people start to converge on me, I can knock them back, summon my fairy, shield myself, lustrate spam (its ridiculously strong when combined with the fairy), eye for an eye, etc. It's so nice, I have a lot more survivability, and all of my skills are useful. Their broil is also pretty stupid. I was up against another Scholar and because my teammates were weak, the enemy scholar was free to spam Broil all game on me, literally bringing me down to 0 mp. On the flip side there was one game where the enemy dps weren't doing anything at all, so I was free to spam broil on the enemy healer, they probably had fun too. The quality of DPS seems to become a much bigger factor in these new games, with less stuff being everything is the healer's fault as before. Even if the time comes when games are high quality and dps on both teams are good, Scholars will still have time to spam Broil on the enemy healer when say, the boxes come up and they are focused on that instead. I also didn't need to have Muse as I could sustain my mana on my own (unless the enemy was a scholar, in which case I put muse back on), so I could take another PvP action for utility. At the moment I run Purify/Concentrate, since CC comes out so often.
I was talking with another and they mentioned that Run is useful on Astro to help kite, being that they have Lightspeed. I will try using this skill later, replacing my Purify/Concentrate since Muse is mandatory on AST, but he agreed with me that Deorbit is a useless skill in Feast. I think unless Deorbit gets replaced as what it is right now is essentially an empty skill slot, AST will be behind the other healers.
I'll try out WHM soon to compare that also with Astro.
That's one thing I have noticed, which I do like -- it's NOT all down to the healer now. Before healers had so many tools, that the whole game depended on them and how they used them. Loss? Healers fault. Win? Healers fault.
Now, with the lack of utility healers have, it truly has become more about DPS and whether or not they get kills. If they don't then there's nothing healers can do.
I'll try myself using sprint instead of purify -- although I've noticed that CC still does seem to be pretty high.
I am going to have to disagree with this post. AST is still a beast in Frontlines. I am actually outputting more than most healers in any given match. Free instant cast after casting benefic is amazing.
