You all say relax now until 1 day its an item that is insanely hot, like some Haste+10% item, but all other grand companies are stuck with like Attack+10 or Accuracy+10, then you'll all be crying that its unfair.

I dont think its much about the anger of the shield, its the anger of the decision.

But ah well, wait 3-6-9 months and your Grand Company will get something good.

You think they are gonna throw Vintage Kite Shield out of the window? chances are the stat will be rebalanced again because we are going through class overhauls.

This is why you don't whine before patch is released.

Came here to say this. In addition to new recipes 1.19 adjusted stats on pretty much all items, sometimes drastically. With all the complaints about block rate, it's not so far fetched to assume they will beef up all shields' block rate. It's likely enough to give them the benefit of the doubt before raging about a patch that isn't even released yet.

Also, if you are trying very hard to be the best tank you can be, (for the next few hours at least) the best thing you can equip would be an Axe.

You realize that very shield has a Block value of 71 right? Smaller shields block more often, but don't block as much damage.

Even then, it's an awesome shield sure. Flames got crafting gear choices the rest don't. Future updates, your GC is gonna have an epic shield, and another is gonna have a nice weapon...etc.

If every single inventory update on gear from GCs were balanced, there'd be no variety.

Yeh but...shouldn't flames hold gear for GLA, PUG, and THM? Wouldn't that make sense? And Grid should hold gear for LNC, CON, ARC? and LL gear for MRD? Isn't that how it should be? I don't know about you but thats why I rolled flames, because I am a GLA.

i knew my post would bring out the fanboys. rallying to defend SE's decision.

but it was still a bad decision.

Remember the auto block patch? I remember reading a massive amount of threads and posts saying "ZOMG AUTO BLOCK IS GONNA BE AWESOME YAY" and like 1 or 2 posts saying it was a nerf, the guys that said it was got flamed hardcore.

This is pretty much the same thing again.

Putting the best shield in the game in a GC that is out of reach of most players was a stupid move on SE's part.

How many times do I have to say it, all you people saying higher block mitigation is better are fools. All your block mitigation is useless IF YOU NEVER BLOCK IN THE FIRST PLACE.

So your crying here because your ability to tank will be limited depending on what GC you chose, and you picked the wrong one? If the shield is that fundimental to your ability as a tank, well, you have bigger issues then a GC shield.

We can do what is arguably the toughest battle in the game (ifrit) in our underpants with level 1 weapons, and your balling out other peoples perspective for diversity, over a shield.

Sorry, but every player I know preferes a tank that makes the shield, not ones in which the shield makes the tank.
