except this doesn't really fix the issue which is they weren't prepared for how many people would be doing all this new content at once. they should have redunancy server clusters set up for this but apparently that's too much
you are thinking short term. what happens when 5.0 is released? probably more of the same. redunancy server clusters should be in place regardless. and think about this. they have redundancy for the new areas. why not instances too? sorry but instances regardless of size should have redundancy.
several other MMOs I have played have a redundancy set up. the more people in a area the more instances of it appear. these are free to play MMOs. FFXIV is a pay to play MMO. it should have these redundancies
And like this time, the issue solves itself relatively quickly and people forget about it.
The cheaper long term solution is to not bother with it, because there's virtually no standing consequence.
