I hope SE learns a few lessons from this.

It's 2017 and there are virtual on demand servers from at least a dozen companies in California alone. You don't need to buy or even rent physical hardware for a short term burst.

SE is being cheap. That's all. They're making so much money from FFXIV that they're turning greedy and greed is what will be their downfall. They would rather have smaller servers and endure this than overspend for big servers. The thing is they will lose money from people who are turned off by this and unsub.

Only about 50 players have actually gotten through and finished the quest since the servers came up, so at this rate, this could go on for over a week.

MSQ pisses me off so bad. The writing is so pretentious (in english at least, seriously, WHO DO YOU ACTUALLY PAY FOR IT), the characters are incompetent for the amount of importance they are given (Alphinaud, kill him pls), and it is THE thing to do to progress.. In this case I'd say WoW did it much better in Legion - every zone contributes to the end cause in a certain way, and you choose where to start, which fixes all the issues with the flood of people. Why don't they think outside the box, or learn from others if they can't learn from their own mistakes?

The zones in Legion were written in chronological order from left to right. The level scaling was only conceptualized after they were all finalized. That also only happened after MoP and WoD started with bottlenecks comparable to this that were required to unlock any of the expansion content.

But the chronological order didn't really matter. Blizzard had raped the lore by that point - it is of small relevance (if any). And they also learned how to handle a launch. That is the point of my post.
