I Pre-Ordered Stormblood from SE website but bought ARR and HW from steam

Didn't know there was a difference and was never told that anywhere when I was buying the game as far as I can remember. So am I screwed? It let me do all of the things on mogstation when I pre-ordered originally but now I'm reading I won't be able to play Stormblood or early access. Any clarification on this?

Steam and PC are different versions. If you have a Steam version of ARR you need the Steam version of SB, PC version will not be compatable with it.

Yeah but I read that once you've registered the two different versions you are also stuck not being able to play the expansion at all unless you create a new account. Is that true? And would a mod be able to tell me whether or not I would be able to get a refund from the SE store for this?

I don't understand your first question? You will be able to play SB providing you get the steam version.
I'm not sure about their refund policy, but as long as the registration code hasn't been used I don't see why not.

Edit: I think I understand now, you already used the codes on the mogstation for the PC SB....hmmm.....i'm not sure about that one. It may be best to contact support directly.

IDK, I swapped over from PS4 where things were much simpler... You bought the game, you played the game. I thought it let me register stuff... I went to the pre-order site and it let me do all of the stuff there and I thought Mogstation let me do my thing but maybe I was wrong. I'm not even 100% sure of how far it let me get.

Some advice for the future: When you buy a game through Steam, you will generally need to buy most everything for that game through Steam. (There are some exceptions.)
Steam is pretty much its own platform, even if the games happen to run on standard PC hardware.

It helps to read the actual product page instead of just selecting the pre-order button from the selection page cause there it states in red lettering
