But hes right. No way Pro can do 60 fps with overcrowded crazyness. Even xbox one x couldnt pull it off.

Sorry for the slight change in topic, but my OG PS4 is on the way out (bad antenna, sounds like an aeroplane) and I'm trying to decide between the cheap option - a replacement PS4 Slim - or a PS4 Pro. I have a 4k TV. My current PS4 has a HDD but I'll be installing an SSD into whichever model I buy because I'm sick of taking 5x longer to load between zones than everyone else I know.
However, the Pro is more than twice the price of the Slim for me from the two packages I'm considering, so it's a considerable increase in cost (I don't need advice on packages, due to circumstances I have to buy very specifically). Joke answers about getting a PC will be ignored; I'm not going to :P
Now that you have all settled in with the Pro patch, would you say it's worth the extra cost over the Slim? My server is tiny - never more than 15 people in Kugane - and I never have noticeable congestion anywhere ever other than in 72-man FL, but 4k screenshots (we get those, right?) and the slightly faster load times are tempting me strongly. On the flip side, even the Slim with an SSD would be a nice upgrade for me, so if the Pro patch isn't completely amazing maybe I should save now and wait for a future model?
Are you happy with FFXIV on the Pro?

PS4 Pro is a great console in general, much better than the standard and the slim model. It has better cooling and is much faster. So, if you're investing into a console for more than just FFXIV, I'd say it's worth it.

Don't you need a 4K TV to make the pro worth it though? Cause my TV is a 1080 and I don't think that it will make anything look different.

If your PS4 is 'on the way out' but still working, take it over to GameStop and trade it in for extra store credit towards the price of a PS4 Pro. They will refurbish it and you'll get like $150-175 towards the cost of a Pro, which means you'll only wind up dropping around $200-225 instead of $400-425.
The upgrade is DEFINITELY worth it if you own a 4K TV! You'll have to play around with the resolution options to get your Pro to recognize that it is ok to run at 4K resolution, so don't forget to do that, otherwise you will think it isn't any different.
I also installed a 500GB SSD and you're correct on the teleport/loading times... I make it to nearly every hunt mob I attempt to go to and the performance on loading times is extremely noticeable for me.
Enjoy it once you get it all setup, I know I have!

It still upscales the 1080p to its smoothest possible resolution and you will get faster loading on things that can sometimes take a moment to pop onto your screen such as other characters and mobs, npcs, etc. Still worth it in my opinion until you can for instance, save up for a 4K TV cheap on Black Friday or something.

Thanks everyone, really leaning towards the Pro now. Just need to shuffle my budget a bit
Sadly I'm not in the US and have limited recycling options here for an imported PS4, but I'm sure my OG PS4 will make a fine extra BD player for many years to come!If your PS4 is 'on the way out' but still working, take it over to GameStop and trade it in for extra store credit towards the price of a PS4 Pro. Should a gtx1080ti be able to pull 60fps max settings at 4k in FFXIV? Honestly wondering. I have one, and am not getting that in crowded areas. but my CPU is older. Just wondering what my expectations should be.

Hijacking the thread somewhat (because who needs private messaging in a forum?!), how do you like Yojimbo? I was thinking of transferring over and it would be good to know what it is like in advance. Are there enough people to do the big FATEs with despite it being a small server? Hoping to majorly decrease my ping, hence the transfer, but I'm used to big server life![]()
