If you don't think that's gonna be the case in a MMORPG, then you don't know MMORPGs. Point is that the frame rate mode most probably makes the frame rate MORE stable, which is something you need tools to assess.

You can only tell when the jumps are large. A jump between 24 and 48 is noticeable, a jump between 50 and 60, not so much.
I don't have a PS4/PS4 Pro, but I run the PC client at 4K at 50-60fps and mostly what happens is that things that can't be seen disappear, like quest icons when there are 50 people standing in front of it.
The thing I find with 4K, is that it makes the backgrounds look nicer, but does absolutely nothing for the foreground, if anything some foreground stuff like really bad when zoomed in because you can make out the polygon edges and the low-resolution textures.
um yeah they also didn't account for a million people jumping on at the same time either. We were told in the Live Letter that, with the release of SB, we would receive a Pro Patch that would let us achieve stable 60fps even in areas "with a lot of people". If you've played today on the new standard "increased FPS" mode, you'll see that nothing has changed. What are your thoughts on this?
Under normal circumstances you'll get 60

The point is that, while SE did not promise a locked 60fps, they did say stable 60fps even in areas with a ton of people.

First of all, they did not promise. Yoshida-san said "should be able to." It's a conditional, two months before a patch's release. If you interpret that as a promise or as an absolute statement, the joke is on you.
Secondly, the point is that if you expect stable 60 FPS in the most crowded areas on a console with the specs of the PS4 Pro, your expectations were obviously out of whack, whatever Yoshida said.
It's a subjective statement. Some might take that to mean a city with maybe 20-30 players around. Others may take that to mean to the extent that Hunts were back in its prime, with 100+ people spamming the most (hardware) resource demanding abilities they can. I'd wager they were implying the former at most. In other words, you'd begin dipping the moment an additional variable enters. Have you noticed an improvement or just smooth frames in simpler situations (i.e. an area with ~15-20 people)?

If i cant get 60 fps in hugely crowded areas with an overclocked i7 and a gtx980ti, what makes you think the ps4 pro can with a tablet processor?

PC elitist comments aren't going to contribute to this conversation. There's no need for snarky "tablet processor" comments. Your mentioning that you are having some troubles even on a high-end computer, however, is relevant.

It has nothing to do with PC elitism and everything to do with how computer hardware works. I happen to also own a PS4 Pro, and I do not expect things it cannot do to happen.
