This happened to me yesterday.
I redownloaded it and still can not get in, whenever FF XIV is started I just get a black screen with "Connecting to Playstation Network". However, I can still check psn store, have access to friends list, and can play anyother online game normally in the PS4.

On a reddit post the user SEKahuna says that Sony is the one dealing with the issue, not SE. So any fixes that come out can't be predicted by SE since Sony is the one taking the lead I imagine. Hopefully they can fix this issue or SE is gonna get a big hit in PS4 playerbase. I can't speak for anyone else but I for one can't go on forever having to re-download 22gb for no reason at the drop of the random power surge hat.

You don't even need a power surge for it to happen. My PS4 was in rest mode, there were no power surge, and I still got that download. So yeah, mildly annoying to say the least. On a reddit post the user SEKahuna says that Sony is the one dealing with the issue, not SE. Want to join in, it this happened again to me today. Second time since launch. I just got home and it will take me over 4 hours to download it so I probably won't get to play today. This needs to be a priority in their last before they start losing ps players.
I don't typically bitch but I just registered to the forums to say this is now the second time i have to re-download the 19458 due to power outage. really nice cause i live rural and down have the greatest speeds. what a waste of bandwidth
Another casualty joining the lists. 8T
Lost power in the middle of a sunny, clear day of all things. Rebooted my PS4 to get greeted with a five hour download - not the worst thing compared to some other users in this thread, but totally killed my play time that night.
Ended up going out and getting an UPS battery back up just to be safer than sorry, though it's annoying that I had to drop extra money to try to (not even fully?) ensure this issue doesn't continue happening.
Hopefully this actually gets addressed and doesn't turn into a game of hot potato between SE and Sony...
Yeah, the problem can (and will) happen again, even if you never have any power outage, like me.Another casualty joining the lists. 8T

All you need to do is one little Freeze (on this game or any other, don't matter), and you're screwed.
This is the first time i was in a early access, and the last. I will wait for at least a month before playing the next add-on after stormblood, i don't want to see this anymore.

System/game crashing hasn't been an issue for me at all so far (famous last words) - we get lightning storms in my area quite often this time of the year, so that's my main concern. I'm just waiting for us to lose power, the UPS to do it's job, and then still get hit with this problem. But from the sound of things, I wouldn't be surprised. 8T
I can understand how a big issue like this might have gone unnoticed until live release (I can't imagine them testing to see what happens if they cut power to a PS4 system and try to reboot the game, lol) but half a month to even acknowledge it is ridiculous. As someone who's just restarted replaying this MMO after ages, this is not a fun issue to deal with as a new player. Or any player, of course - new players just have less of a commitment to keep putting up with it. /grouchy face
Happened to me as well. I really hope they plan on prorating or offering free time.
