It only took them 11 days too! Their sense of priority is amazing.
This happened to me yesterday.
I redownloaded it and still can not get in, whenever FF XIV is started I just get a black screen with "Connecting to Playstation Network". However, I can still check psn store, have access to friends list, and can play anyother online game normally in the PS4.

No that isn't an acceptable excuse. I understand it takes time for them to develop a solution. The problem was not alerting PS4 players beforehand so that a player can take a preventative measures against it if they could (like buying a battery backup surge protector) or shutting down their PS4 since Sony asks us to put it in sleep mode instead for system updates. It would have prevented a lot of headaches of getting the 22gb sticker shock after the fact, and having to search the forums. Your playerbase should know up front it's an issue if you are advising cautionary measures.
On a reddit post the user SEKahuna says that Sony is the one dealing with the issue, not SE. So any fixes that come out can't be predicted by SE since Sony is the one taking the lead I imagine. Hopefully they can fix this issue or SE is gonna get a big hit in PS4 playerbase. I can't speak for anyone else but I for one can't go on forever having to re-download 22gb for no reason at the drop of the random power surge hat.
You don't even need a power surge for it to happen. My PS4 was in rest mode, there were no power surge, and I still got that download. So yeah, mildly annoying to say the least. On a reddit post the user SEKahuna says that Sony is the one dealing with the issue, not SE. Just happened to me before.
The launcher of the game freezed (just when the screen is white for a second), i had to reboot my ps4, and poof, magic, 22.7 giga for a "patch".
I don't care about server errors , or waiting before too much players are here, or others problems like getting disconnected in pvp a lot, or others various bugs.
But this, it's a big, BIG, BIG no.
I'm so close to asking for a refund now, and not playing this again for life.
This is something that should be resolved immediately before ANYTHING ELSE.

Just happened to me too. Sucks... I suspect 3rd party jerks. This really needs to be addressed quickly.
Want to join in, it this happened again to me today. Second time since launch. I just got home and it will take me over 4 hours to download it so I probably won't get to play today. This needs to be a priority in their last before they start losing ps players.
