22.7gb update after relogging?

Add me to the list on PS4, had a power outage and then I was greeted by that patch that we cannot download in the background. I had many power outages before but this is the first time it ever happened to me, really sucks being locked out of the game for all that time.

Welp, it just happened to me.

Upon seeing the download start, my first thought was "well..maybe something rolled out in the second my power flickered"?

I'm honestly surprised this has been going on for a week or two and there's no fix. It's clearly a launcher issue. Many of us here have had power outages since this games launch and this has never happened.

I do hope they resolve this soon. In the meantime, I can't play until the beginning of the month when my data resets :/

As this just happened to me (power outage) I just spent the last 20 mins reading this whole thread and I've gotta say that this is just plain embarrassing.

And people say 1.0's launch was a mess, but this?? From Raubahn Extreme, to 2 hour queues on populated servers (Balmung), to the PS4 launcher completely failing to use locally instilled game files. For years I've spoken of how dedicated the Final Fantasy XIV team is, and how much I respected them for making one of my favorite games of all time.
But when you can't even communicate around issues like this, then I start to wonder if player experience has become a bit neglected. When it comes to tech issues, my experience with Stormblood ranks as probably the very worst I've had with an online game ever. They want more people to play their game, but can't accommodate them for a smooth experience.

How can I recommend this game to my friends? What am I going to tell them when they have to sit 2 hours in the login queue? What am I going to tell them when their PS4 freaks out and FF XIV is the only game on the console that fails to work properly?

We're paying a monthly fee. This is completely unacceptable.

Now that I'm done with my rant, I have a question that I didn't see on the thread (maybe I missed it) but when re-downloading: Does the 22 GB take new space on the PS4? Or does the launcher do cleanup and leaves the game on the 60+ GB mark as normal?

it doesn't take new space the game size stayed the same for after the first time , it sound like its overwriting folders

I just had this issue........ compounded with horrendous data center speeds (0.5MBps? really?)... this is infuriating.

Just to clarify, my PS4 (Pro) did NOT shut down improperly. Last night I closed FFXIV via the menu, once the launcher loaded, I closed via PS4 menu and SHUT DOWN my console. No double beep, everything shut down correctly. This issue was NOT caused by any sort of power issue.

If this happens again, that's the end of my sub. I hardly get any time to play and now I have to wait 400+ minutes due to terrible upload speeds at the data center. I have a gigabit fiber connection and frequently get 20MBps+ downloads... this is unacceptable.

EDIT: Also, just to be clear, I am using a UPS on my setup. Even if were an external power issue, it wouldn't affect the PS4 (and it would have logged the power issue)

yeah i just unsubbed... not like it will make much a difference. I bought game twice one code for pc one for ps4 because I realized my pc was disconnecting and crashing all the time so i had go redownload the game and spent much more time being stuck downloading rather than playing the game.

Got it on ps4 and it worked for 4 days pretty well then got hit with 18 gb download on my weekend. turns out i dont have stormblood anymore or heavensward lol on ps4. i tried to re enter 12 digit code i got but its just useless pre access pass and no code have i gotten from square for the actual game i paid for... just ridiculous wtf i couldnt imagine this expansion release getting worse after raubahns wall but you guys managed to do it. i tried literally everything just to play this game over weekend but looks like i need to buy stormblood for a 3rd time just to even have it work properly after pre access. get it together square this is just embarassing at this point.

Just happened to me on PS4, I use a surge protector as well. This is horrible, such a slap in the face for a game you have to pay to buy and pay to play month to month.
