22.7gb update after relogging?

Sigh I think you took it the wrong way, gaming consoles such as PS3/4 or XBOX based might be great for online gaming, as long as the servers aren't over contested.

That's a moot point, considering the servers are cross-platform.

However, Sony's system updates have been nothing short of garbage within the last year.
There was a mass hacking that took place in October and they denied it happening. Their support forums were filled with threads along the lines of "I got hacked" and I guess that didn't happen. There was the 4.5 update that happened in March that caused about 80% of console player's connections to randomly lag every minute or so, making online shooters and other live sorta games almost unplayable... and now this update, the people that weren't getting an issue, suddenly are, and the people that had the issue before, it still isn't fixed. Honestly, if I had a computer suitable for gaming, I'd be on it right now. Atleast it's 100% in Square's power to fix the issues with that platform, rather than have to work with Sony to have to deal with it.

What I actually see is that their latest update is related to error CE-30022-7, but it does not seem to connect to the fact that every time you have to authenticate it is another 22 gigs you have to download.

Oh, there's no reference. It's just an obvious conclusion that I came to after I figured that they were working together with Sony. Their updates this year have been trash.
My friend who does techy stuff said it probably affected something to do with FFXIV file's path.
We'll never know for sure, though.

Actually, you know what? I'm going to start the download again, go to best buy and get one of those special surge bars that hold power for like 40 minutes after losing power. This is poop.

I do "techy stuff" too and I think your friend may be on to something with the file path. I think that either the PS4 is not informing the server that it is on the correct patch, or that instead of the PS4/server only pulling down and dishing out what it needs to patch, it's pulling down the whole thing each time. The application size of mine is around 60gig, and I have pulled down the 22 gigish file 3 times now, so it looks like it is overwriting the previous download and install each time, which is actually a good thing because otherwise you would have a 200gig file by now.
