umm that was forever ago and we need more info like right now please. that was way way way way long time agoFFXIV Producer and Director Yoshida here.
This is a follow-up regarding difficulty in accessing certain instanced battle content.
The development team has changed the process for dealing with this issue so that as many players as possible can be moved to instanced areas for certain main quests and instanced battles.
As a result, players have become able to transition to instanced areas faster than originally estimated, but at the same time, players are now gathering at certain areas in large numbers, and this is causing the servers go down on some Worlds as a result.
Currently, the development team is making detailed adjustments by adjusting the speed at which players are transferred to instances on each World so that areas no longer continue to go down and to ensure that all players can continue to play as comfortably as possible.
Although these measures were taken to help alleviate the difficulty in transitioning to instances, we apologize about zones going down as a result.
Congestion in the “Rhalgr's Reach” area is especially intense, so to prevent zones from continuously going down, we are carefully controlling the logins to each World and transitions to the Rhalgr's Reach zone. Due to this, it will take some time to log in to any of the Worlds.
Everyone on the team will continue to put in our full effort to ensure everyone can enjoy early access.
i guess my point was that it seems this is the best they can do for now. better to try and develop a permanent solution for release date then worry too much about early access, for the long term.
I've been on the fence about putting time and subscription money in this game. I came to play with my friends and enjoy the story. I did all of Heavenward to get this point and its astonishing that this one instance hasn't been fixed since I reached this point in the story yesterday morning. I might just take the 40 dollar minus lost and cancel subscription if this is more to come. I haven't seen the server being taken down or anything to try and resolve the issue.
Yeah the lack of communication and lack of visible work being done to fix or even alleviate the issue is really disheartening. Sure they've SAID they've done things a couple times, but I haven't seen or heard of anyone getting into the instance on my server.
That's BS. It's literally less than two hours' worth of gameplay from the start of the expansion to that point. If they had a single dungeon in between, things would be different, but they don't.FFXIV Producer and Director Yoshida here.

After trying off and on since launch, I've been trying consistently for the past two hours. There are virtually no queues to log onto Gilgamesh and this instance still isn't working. How many people are being let on at any given time? 5? I'd be down for a queue, even if I was substantially far behind in it. At least at that point there would be more of a solid chance of getting in. I'm also tired of the lack of responsiveness from the developers. I checked the number of players in Doma and Othard a couple hours ago. Doma was under 100 and Othard was under 200 compared to the Fringes' multi-hundred. Surely this is causing issues with not enough players queueing for the later dungeons....

I'm disgusted with the lack of response to this issue; what do we pay a subscription fee for? You move the north american servers, supposedly to enhance peoples gameplay yet all it did was destroy our pings, you also supposedly upgraded the servers (doesn't seem like it). Every time you take the game down for 24 hour maintainance you fail to give us back that full time in gameplay hours; and now this, your loyal players who purchased Stormblood for early access are left stuck at the very start of the expac because you put a stupid bottleneck in. When will you listen to the players, NO ONE ACTUALLY LIKES THE SOLO SCENARIO MAIN STORY QUESTS, they are always a really annoying fight that could easily be handeled outside of an instance, or if it has to be instanced make it a group instance. What is the point in playing an MMO if you can't help people??? If you won't take the servers offline and fix this issue, why cant you just allow people to skip the battle and continue with your precious story cutscenes!!!
I'm guessing the instance server of theirs is the same for every region/regions (i.e. all North American servers share the same instance server). I don't know the inner workings of FFXIV, but that's my best guess considering the instances have been continuously packed for more or less 24 hours now.
Either way, the duty finder is up and working and that seems to be all they are willing to work on right now, rather than making sure their brand-new, full price DLC is properly functional. The thought process is probably, "they can do everything they could do before the update, so why scramble?"
Again, this is just a most-likely inaccurate projection coming from a direct victim of this nonsense. Feel free to correct me, Square. Please correct me.
now stuck on the quest "In Crimson it Began", come onnn
Either they fix this quickly or they better start handing out refunds because this is unacceptable.
