As soon as I heard it I immediately heard "Anthem" from the musical Chess. A google search trying to find the composer quickly led me here, since I wanted to see if there was any crediting of the two ABBA guys that wrote it. Aside from some minor ornamentation, and a differently organized bridge, it's basically the same song.

Thematically, the original Anthem even fits with the plight of Ala Mhigo since it's about national pride and being exiled from your homeland, so I thought that they might have done this on purpose.

I gotta say, people were telling me it sounded like advance australia fair and I thought they were overreacting. Until I went into Rhalgr's Reach and actually heard it. I work in a school and hear the anthem every week during assembly, now Im hearing it in game too :S

All i hear when i enter rhalgrs reqch is the dqmn garlemald anthem f4om one of the beginning sb cutscenes. I keep thinking that garlemald has ala mhigo locked down so tight that they even hijacked the bgm.

I don't hear the Australian national anthem at all either. The melody has a couple moments of similarity at certain points like cadences, which is to be expected given the nature of cadences, but it's pretty clearly a different melody for the bulk of the song.

The song "Anthem" from Chess is a different matter entirely, however. The Rhalgr's Reach music is the same melody with slight ornamentation differences throughout most of it. Even the original context of "Anthem" fits with the themes surrounding Ala Mhigo making the connection seem even more obvious. Whether this obvious similarity meets legal classifications of musical copyright infringement, who knows.
