Have expansion, used EA code, stormblood code won't work, still saying I only have HW

I recently got a FF14:ARR on steam (my original account was desktop but i was gifted a steam account although i didn't play through steam) to make getting the expansion easier.

I used the Early Access code in the mogstation which worked but it when I tried to put the actual Stormblood key in, it came up as invalid. Now people have told me that is because it is not officially released yet until the 20th and that I'll be able to input the code on/after then.

However, when I loaded up my game it still comes up as Heavensward while I know others people's have the Stormblood splash page.

I don't really understand what is going on, any help would be appreciated, thank you!

Steam version and PC version are two different clients entirely essentially. If you are trying to use your non steam account with a steam ARR/Heavensward/Stormblood etc, it is not reverse compatible.

You need:
FFXIV ARR + Heavensward + Stormblood PC Versions If your account is tied to non-steam

OR

FFXIV ARR + Heavensward + Stormblood STEAM Version if your account was originally a Steam account.

You can sadly not mix and match them - so if you registered stormblood and new ARR through Steam... But had a non-steam account, you essentially have to create a new account through steam and start over from square 0 with a brand new character for Steam version... OR buy stormblood for PC version (non-steam)

The original account was a steam one but I had downloaded the game to play directly from SE years ago. I was gifted a steam version of Heavensward which worked (I was only given the code to add in mogstation so steam wasn't needed). This time I decided to just buy everything through steam so I bought ARR+Stormblood at the same time. Technically, everything is Steam so it should work...but it doesn't...
