    SB SMN: Bio and Bio II?

    Hey so in SB EA, I'm trying to add Bio to my hotbar. It is the green Bio icon as I drag it, but the second it goes to my hotbar it changes to Bio II. Is this a bug or are we no longer allowed to use it once we have Bio II? This doesn't make any sense to me so if someone has figured this out please explain.

    Bio II is simply Bio upgraded. They've been combined.

    It will change to your highest spell based on the level you're at. You can't have both Bios, sadly.

    I think summoner is still great, explosive damage and painflare is on a really short cd for burst aoes now which is nice.

    It does feel kinda weird, though, that they'd keep both spells in anyway. I'm interested in seeing how it handles level sync. I'm going to assume if you have Bio I on your bar, upgraded to II, when you sync down, it'll revert to I. But if you have Bio II on your bar and you sync down, it might just seem like it's unavailable. I've been checking to make sure I just have the first spell set on my bars to hopefully avoid that potential. Same with things like Thunder/III.

    Might seem similarly confusing while leveling up, since I think it'll still place Bio II (or Thunder III) on your bar, with also the first skill upgrading, so you'll have a duplicate.

    Well I didnt' have much time to test it out this morning, but did to an initial examination...

    Its worse than that...

    Ruin 3 is mega nerfed. It went from 2800-3000 damage outside of Trance (3000-3300 inside trance)....

    down to 2000-2200 outside of Trance.

    Tri-Disaster per tick used to be 1800 per tick... with a high ticks of 2200....

    down to 1000-1100 per tick.

    I thought with Maim and Mend with +40% pet damage might make this up... but it can't even do that.

    Ifrit was hitting for about 880-900 prior.... still only doing 990 damage.

    Garuda was hitting for 1100-1200 prior... still only doing 1300 damage.

    So nothing balanced out.

    Summoner got mega nerfed

    EDIT: That's at level 60 with i270 gear.

    They'd be far from the first MMO to throw out balance at the old level cap with an eye toward how things are at the new level cap.

    I checked Maim and Mend II, its only +30% now. Not the +40 percent I thought it would be too.

    I honestly at this point don't even know if SMN will be able to perform properly through earlier level content.

    That was only my initial testing.

    I promised I would stick it out until launch to see if this really was the case...

    I see now... it was the case... this is a major nerf...

    I tried more myself. It seems doable... slow but doable. I'm only in the 255 quest gear tho. The biggest boon I've found is Drain. 1k heals every 2s. It's definitely needed for me as enemies, just the basic ones hit me hard and my pet keeps dying. I'll withhold anger until I get to 70, but it is really a confusing change.

    Well I won't even be playing SMN at this point, barring major changes. I'll just move straight to BLM.

    I might try some MSQ content with it, but anything outside of that probably won't be doable. And doing Dungeons with other players will likely be painful at best.

    Those are some major DPS hits, and likely to put us on the bottom of the pile with regards to caster jobs.

    Still I did at least wait until launch to see if it really was true before leaving the job behind.
