Yep. Same thing happens to me on my G19.
After every restart I'll need to change the setting to disable backlighting.
I'm wondering if it only works as intended (whatever the intended working state is...) with certain models

Run the software as admin mode. and uncheck it again.

Yup. Can confirm this works. I use a G13 gameboard and G502 Proteus Spectrum. Both were going dark whenever the game was on screen.Had this problem too at first but quickly fixed it (with my g910)
1.open Logitech gaming software
2.press the gear button (settings) thats on the bottom right hand side of software
3.under options go to game integration
4. un-click the "allow games to control illumination"
Update the G-key program. There is a setting on the bottom left that will let you permanently turn this off

Patch 4.01 update: There seems to have been a change made to this behavior. I was seeing the same issue as everyone else with my G710+, where the lights would only turn off when tabbed into the game. However, with the new patch, the game will turn off the backlighting on my keyboard and it will stay off regardless of which program I'm actively using. I have to actually reconfigure my keyboard to turn the lighting back on, and then it stays on until the next time I start the game.
