We have 2 updates because one is a patch and the other an expansion.

Just thought I'd say this to make people understand the update process more clearly:

This is a patch + expansion drop. The initial 2.5gb update you get is the 2.0 core system changes (a patch). Ones that everyone gets whether or not they own SB. (Think battle updates, Costa Del Sol swimming etc)

The second 3.5gb update is SB itself (expansion). This is only given to those that own SB. Similar to HW, no need to make people update things they can't use. It can be toggled on/off via the launcher config.

PS4 allocates free space to ensure future expansions are counted for. You're forgetting the 10 major patches (about 1gb each) XIV has experienced.

Alot isn't counted as SB. Swimming, for example, would be in the ARR patch because non-SB players can use it. Same with battle changes, animations, RDM/SAM (though unlock is SB only). Anything people can see without owning SB will be in the patch (Weapon, armour, jobs, job skills etc etc etc)

So now I'm confused. I saw in another thread that someone said there were two "patches" but I only got one I think. I shut down the launcher and started it again, and it just says the game is unavailable during maintenance.

I did pre-order SB, so I dunno...

Square Enix is genius with memory and it's updating in multiple parts possibly more later in the day, so relax lol!
