But if I hacked the account server, I would just edit the database to have no SE token linked, so I wouldnt need your token, or care, because i just directly removed it..... See what I mean?

Then I edit your password to 123456789, login, have fun.

Its like trying to laugh at a burglar because he broke into your house through the window, but doesnt have the keys so he cant do anything when hes in there........

If my account info is stolen and sold, there is that extra layer of security, that was my point.
I just learned my new password, if I have to change I'll be sad panda.

As for editing account info, technically possible. If they got that far into SE systems, I think there is much more to worry about than stolen accounts though.

Not always, look at Sony and all the stolen CC info, and their intention was not to use it, just the act of stealing it XD

In that case, what harm is done to the consumer? An inconvenience to change passwords and maybe a re-issue of Security tokens

Ah! I see your point. Although if they get that far, then stealing a character account would seem like the least of their worries.

On the Sony situation, I didn't think they got to the credit cards. But they did get to all the passwords that were stored in plain text instead of being encrypted.

I dont think hackers are much of a worry, what concerns me is the amount of people who freely open themselfs to downloading third-party apps for the games such as parsers and so on, while so far nothings happened and they have been legit, you can disguise one of these, there are even methods/processes to get around security token if you do it right.

Token is not full proof, nothing really is. Unless they start making finger print scanners or retinal scanners lol

I don't think it we have to worry about someone having your account password and gaining access to your game
Even without a security token... anyone who has ever tried logging in from a different IP address knows they'd also need your email password... Something that would not be on SE's servers
So as long as they got no Credit Card info then we're relatively safe

An issue wherein you had not been developing a high definition remake of Final Fantasy VII has been corrected. Here is the source code, all you have to do is ship it!

Known issues:

A bug wherein we scanned every database and could find no mention of Final Fantasy Versus XIII other than the trailers that had already been released so far has been discovered. Do we have to make this one for you too?

My company actually has a finger print scanner lol, so they're made, I don't think they're for retail use yet though.

Joke aside, some companies actually do keep source code on their servers lol (it's not the smartest idea..but some do.)
