It's probably just a time saving measure, as those red pictures are taken straight from the Sightseeing Log's thumbnail. The handful of new paintings made specifically for this feature were colored, and frankly quite beautiful to look at.I'm wondering if somehow the ugly monochromatic paintings are easier on the system and that's why they keep using them. There are very few that look good in sepia and most are downright ugly, but it could be some sort of memory saving measure or something. If that is the case then I'm guessing we are going to be stuck with them, given how SE usually handles cosmetic problems caused by system limitations. :/
