Once we have stat weights we will easily be able to tell. atm we are flying with a basic direction, no actual map. i'd choose 36 crit over 40 direct hit, but probably not 30 crit. it's gonna be a pretty small difference anyway

By the way, dunno if anyone here knows or would be interested but I stumbled on a Macro that is working wonders for me. Got the idea from when we had Thunder 3/Thunder 2 macros for Blackmage.
/micon Jolt
/ac Impact <t>
/ac Jolt <t>
Seeing as there is NO reason to not use impact over Jolt, this will use Impact every time it is up. If it can't it will use Jolt II, tested it out in a 70 dungeon with no errors or slow downs that I could see. You will get a constant error about "Cant cast during" but eh.

Well granted i only have a few pieces of the tome gear, i have not seen any thus far were i can meld spell speed. The chest piece is definately more for Red Mage then blm. That's where I am at on figuring out which one to main. I love RDM, but BLM will always be my true passion. Just talking about BLM fills me gitty while RDM doesn't. For the gear though, I am putting SpS on it for my BLM, but I was wondering how bad it would affect the RDM.
I still will test though, i have soo much materia from quests and from Palace, haha
Still an awful idea, for a few reasons. 1) Macros don't always que to correct skill in the correct order, especially when trying to que the skill early during your previous cast. You could end up casting Jolt even when you have a proc. 2) What happens when impact has only 2 seconds left? You press the button and it will start casting impact only to be interrupted because the proc fell off, causing you to loose a GCD. SE reduces a ton of button bloat. There is no shortage of hotbar space. Keep your actions in your full control./micon Jolt

Eh, had no issues thus far. Only sharing for those who may be interested, however, I do see your point.
Is using Manafication at 40/41 and going right into burst the best way? I've been toying with the idea of holding it to about 70/71 then using CAC, Riposte, Displacement to get to the 40/41 and popping it.
Is it better to use it to get melee phases quicker or to extend that first 3 hit combo of the melee phase?
Manafication cancels combos, so no. Unless I misunderstood what you're intending to achieve?
Basically using it to get 2 Enchanted Ripostes, CaCs and Displacements by restarting the combo.
CaC in, Riposte, Displace out, Mana, CaC back in and carry on like normal.
It effectively means I need to push mana levels to where it would be regardless instead of 40/41, but gets some more enchanted hits in.
I don't see what that gains you. CAC and Displacement should be used prior to Manafication coming off cooldown, so you get the benefit of the cooldown reset regardless.
So all you are getting is an extra Enchanted Riposte at the cost of 30/30 mana and 1.5s GCD. If that was worth doing it would always be worth doing, which it isn't. Are you thinking about Embolden (+ other cooldown) windows?
It would be a loss. you didnt gain any mana or extra attacks this way. the first hit of the combo cost the most mana and does the least amount of damage. youre better off letting that 30 mana spent go towards building your next 80 (for your next combo).Basically using it to get 2 Enchanted Ripostes, CaCs and Displacements by restarting the combo.

that said, you still ARE best off using CaC and dis before you press manafication
