    If your goal is to do the most damage possible, you probably want to be in melee range by default, use Corps-a-corps and Displacement on cooldown for pure damage or for mechanics-related movement, and position yourself manually during Dualcasts. This will get you more uses of Corps-a-corps and Displacement overall while also auto-attacking during each Dualcast that you're in range.

    Is it worth even equipping the susano weapon for 15 int and 1 magic damage when you lose all that direct hit?

    The Susano weapon like i had stated earlier they have the stats reversed red Mage has blm stats (spell speed, like really SE?) and blm weapon has stats that would be better for Red Mage i believe.
    I am keeping the Ala Mhigan weapon until the raid weapon is available

    You have to realize that while the secondaries on the susano weapon aren't exactly great, the weights on all secondaries are really low this early on in the xpac. So +1 weapon damage is absolutely better.

    Rather than make a new thread, I am assuming that this is the Somewhat Official Red Mage Discussion Thread.

    With that said, I have a stupid question.

    I just hit 66 and unlocked Impact and I am struggling to understand its purpose. It seems, to me, to just be another button to press, just for the sake of having another button to press.

    And I see no reason why Jolt and Impact couldn't just be on the same button, because the proc rate on Impactful is 100%. I feel like Jolt should just turn into Impact, if anything.

    But realistically, I am wondering why Impact even exists as a skill.

    Am I missing something here?

    Impact is your consolation prize. It is guaranteed after every jolt ii with a 270 potency 8 mana giving spell. It's just a third dualcast fodder. It's only job is to lower the "impact" of not having a stone or fire proc. It gives 4 black and 4 white so in that sense it's still on par with fire and stone. Plus it's animation is gorgeous.

    Rawrz said it all. It doesn't really need to exist. It's just slightly more potent and gives an extra black and white mana. Just use impact when you don't have a ready proc basically.

    Just create a macro that first uses Impact and then directly uses Jolt afterwards. So you will always use Impact if possible and if not it will use jolt. With only one button

    macros cant exactly queue. Not that RDM uses sps, but its essentially like lighting it on fire. If you don't have ss, you're probably going to spend more than 2.5 secs on a single gcd... Macros can be done, but they need to be done right. You should just look into the extended hotbar. you actually only need 8 of the extra keys, instead of 16 to function. More situational skills that you will use, just not every minute, should sit on your back hotbar. Skills like: verRaise,verCure,Mana shift, Diversion, tether (lol).

    Using an extended that shows the same chotbar either way you hold it, im able to easily reach all of my spells, with just an erase/addle(when im able to go erase over diversion) and a notify raise macro.

    You can also open your hud, and enable the hotbar. Drag it above your textbox, or somewhere that easy to monitor. shrink it down and place spells that have cds on them that you want to watch that are between all of you bars. Abilities like lucid dreaming, embolden, swiftcast, etc.

    You don't want to start casting Impact if Impactful will wear off before the cast completes. Using an Impact/Jolt macro will make you drop casts.
