I felt like this when they added i270 right side with Proto Ultima and the relic being i275.
The extra min maxing that raiders suposedly had, got reduced by further increasing the pool of items for everyone.
Sure raiders have 3 item pools but depending on the stats roll, some BiS gear might not include raid accessories.

They didn't say what currency you needed for it. Perhaps it just means you can now trade the floor 200 items at that npc? Sometimes the notes can be vague, best to check it out after we have access and then file a complaint.

That's how it already is. When you clear 200, you either get a Firecrest or Glass Pumpkin drop that you go to E-Una-Kotor and trade in for the corresponding trophy or earring.

I think Dustytome means trading the Firecrest for a Glass Pumpkin or visa versa. That would remove the frustration of getting the same one over and over again from floor 200.

If this is the case, I'm going to have to agree. However I had a thought, what if the Firecrest or Glass Pumpkin were only available at the vendor to players who cleared Floor 200, much like some of the music sheets that only become available at the vendor after you clear certain floors?

While this would be lovely, I think (and this is just an assumption that I've made and seen a couple times in the limited information that seems to be available about these items) that Firecrests come from starting at Floor 51 and clearing to 200, and Glass Pumpkins from starting at Floor 1. Again, this is just an assumption, and I was going to see if the results were different when my group went in for a Floor 1 to 200 clear. If the results are the same, and if the trade is something like a Glass Pumpkin for a Firecrest or visa-versa, then I can be fine with that. Just given SE's history with things, I am concerned it could be something simple, such as 99 Potsherds. Like my opening post said, I know my reaction is a little knee-jerk, and I'm reserving any additional anger upon logging in and seeing what the trade-in looks like. I just really hope it's something like this, and not something easily obtainable to invalidate the work those who have cleared Floor 200 put into clearing it.

If it's not as bad as I'm concerned it will be, then I'll accept my knee-jerk reaction as just jumping the gun and assuming the worst. I don't have issues with that, and I already know I'm jumping the gun a little with my post. But I wanted to express concerns, and have an outlet for a little mini-rant, and as I tend not to create new threads just for the sole purpose of complaining, I allowed myself to jump the gun and complain a little bit.

Which is exactly why this rant is way too early. The patch notes are too vague about how it'll be purchased, and if there'll be a requirement.

It's probably something like that -- OR they're letting people buy them with something like 99 potsherds because a new Deep Dungeon will be coming out with new prizes, and no one will want to run the old one which means not being able to get a group together to go up to floor 200.

All of the gear eventually becomes obtainable by anyone. The people who suffered through Final Coil back when it was end game now get to see the armor they worked so hard for become a prize from a POTD sack. Such is the cycle for this game.

My group got a glasspumpkin after we finally finished on our fourth attemtept and we went from 51-200, so I can confirm that this assumption is actually not true, it seems to be pure RNG. With that being said: I'm still hoping that by "purchase" they mean trading the glass pumpkin for the firecrest and the other way round. I'd love to have both trophies in the garden and I always felt that the reward for clearing floor 200 shouldnt be random and potenially "useless" if you alread got trophy and earrings.

So here is me hoping that they meant that... and not some other means of exchange.

Two comments here:

Its pretty obvious that they're going to be purchasable ingame for ingame stuff (of some type, potshards, the other token, something new - we dont know yet).
But more importantly: I hope that things that are actually hard earned in the game are never going to show up on the MogStation. I dont need to inflate my ego with virtual trophies like that, even though I'm very happy about the glass pumpkin pillar thingie in our FC-garden that we put actually quite a bit of effort into. I never want to see items that are tied to challenging content and are meant as reward to show up on the mogstation. At that point you might aswell sell Primal-drop-mounts too and we're at that: Lets sell the gear aswell and make the whole game P2W.

As someone that has four firecrests and not one glass pumpkin, I thank SE for this. Plus you need the floor 200 clear to be allowed to buy Notice of Death, it'd seem logical you need it for this as well.
