I normally don't post rant threads like this (I keep my ranting to the Duty Finder thread and my personal Discord channel lol), but as someone who just recently cleared Floor 200 of PotD after many, many failed attempts...and stress...and blood, sweat, and tears, I am really mad that players can now supposedly purchase Firecrests and Glass Pumpkins.

I fully understand that PotD and Floors 101+ are completely optional content, but they're also very challenging content (for anyone who has ventured past Floor 150, you know what it's like in there). And while the rewards offered may only be glamour earrings and yard trophies, I think those rewards (and the items used to purchase said rewards) should remain something that people can only get through clearing Floor 200. Because that was our reward for overcoming the challenge.

Allowing those who haven't cleared to just purchase these items...? I feel like that kind of invalidates all the hard work those who cleared Floor 200 put into getting their clear.

I'm not sure what they're requiring to trade in for purchasing the Firecrest or Glass Pumpkin (better be something steep, is all I can say right now, and not just 99 Potsherds or something easily obtainable), but I really do not like the fact that people can just purchase something that others had to work their butts off to get. :/ As hyped as I am for Stormblood, this was one thing that actually made me angry. I'm sure others will disagree, or not understand my saltiness, but perhaps those who have worked hard to get their Floor 200 clear will.

I'm reserving full anger until I go to South Shroud and see exactly what it is that players can use to purchase Firecrests or Glass Pumpkins (again, better be something difficult to get and not just 99 Potsherds because those are pretty easily farmable, and you don't even have to go past Floor 50 to get them), but I am still feeling pretty salty now just thinking about it... Perhaps I'm jumping the gun here, but still...I couldn't resist my knee-jerk reaction, and just had to vent about it somewhere. Apologies to those reading this right now.


Just a side note here, and some random thoughts:

I know that the developers are planning to add a second Deep Dungeon, and I know that some probably think the first Deep Dungeon will become dead once the second one is added, but I don't think that would be the case. After all, people still do runs of Coil for story, runs of older Alexander Savage tiers for glamour...so I'm sure people would still run the old PotD, especially if they wanted the glamour earrings or yard trophies, because we do love our glamour items in this game. Even after clearing from Floor 51 to 200, my group and I are already planning to do a Floor 1 to 200 clear this round after we finish all the Stormblood fun. And I have others that I plan to join for more Floor 200 clears. Because I enjoy the content, and I want the rewards associated with clearing said content.

I just really wish the developers had not implemented this purchase feature for Floor 200 clear rewards, and really wish they would consider removing it... I doubt that's going to happen, but I figured it couldn't hurt to at least get my thoughts and opinions out there...

EDIT and Side Note #2:

I guess my line of thinking sort of goes in line with PvP Feast rewards as well. Players got trophies and rings and earrings from reaching certain ranks in the Feast for each Season, and while I know the Hellpup minion is now a Feast KO reward, the others, at least,
aren't just available for players that haven't reached such ranks to purchases just willy-nilly. I personally like my Firecrest Earring, and I am looking forward to earning my Glass Pumpkin earring. I just don't agree with the decision to allow them for purchase...
unless the item required is something players have to clear Floor 200 to get anyways, but I doubt that because, what would be the point of this feature anyways? It's just an assumption, but I think Firecrests are obtained through Floor 51 to 200 clears and Glass Pumpkins through Floor 1 to 200 clears... so why just give people an item for clearing Floor 200 so they can buy either... I don't know. Perhaps my thoughts are too scattered right now to form any sort of coherent argument. If anyone understands what I mean,

Although I'm all down for accesibility for old content and stuff, I kinda agree with you here. I haven't beat floor 200 yet (Many failed attempts) and I think these drops should remain exclusive for the people that suffered in there.

EDIT: In seriousness they are tokens you can trade for really ugly furniture or really ugly earrings.

Sadly but get used it. There is no exclusive with SE. Even if the items say exclusive all over it.

When you clear Floor 200, you're rewarded with a Firecrest or a Glass Pumpkin, which you can then trade in for either a glamour earring or a yard trophy (there are 2 kinds of each, one for the Firecrest and one for the Glass Pumpkin). They're basically bragging rights for those who have cleared PotD in its entirety, and some very well-earned bragging rights, in my humble opinion. I know some will probably not see it as that way, but I went through a lot to get my Floor 200 clear, and it just doesn't sit well with me that people can purchase them without having to actually clear Floor 200 to do so.

I'm in total agreement, Hyomin. Clearing the 200th floor of Palace of the Dead is a feat which deserves unique rewards. Allowing players to simply purchase Firecrests and Glass Pumpkins detracts from those who earned those rewards with effort.

Its... just a furniture and an earring... I mean.. Please, there have been other things like glamour (Allagan gear) and minions which lost real value by trimmed sacks... and people got over with it. Do the same.

They didn't say what currency you needed for it. Perhaps it just means you can now trade the floor 200 items at that npc? Sometimes the notes can be vague, best to check it out after we have access and then file a complaint.
