The glamour system is awful. We deserve an overhaul.

I, and many others, outright HATE the current glamour system.

Other games have very verbose glamour systems, and their gear doesn't look half as good as whats designed for us. Yet we can't use our glamours for various reasons, and its a damned shame - and it needs to be corrected.

Currently we have an Armoire that stores information that only eats resources when it is accessed. We're asking for the same thing to happen with a new glamour system, only instead of storing physical gear in it, it keeps the information on unlocked appearances. We wouldn't even need the Armoire in its current implementation if that were the case.

We want appearance unlocks. We want non-consumed dyes. We want to be able to have distinct appearances based on what class/job we're actively playing, not based on whether the desired look is available to our class on the specific piece of gear we happen to be wearing.

From a development standpoint, playing dress up probably ranks pretty low on the priority list when preparing for an expansion launch.

You're not stating anything that hasn't already been said a million times over. The devs know we hate it but they keep giving excuses. It is what it is. Imo, I wouldn't expect any revisions to it for quite some time, if ever.

Yoshi P said today they didn't want to do glamor log book because it would make save files bigger and they are constantly rewriting the save file every time you do zone or do something which would tax the servers too much. Here is a solution to that problem. Would it be possible to only write to the glamor log file if a change occurs that effects the glamor log such as getting a new piece of gear. Otherwise do not write to this file when changing zones or other stuff that causes a full save file rewrite.

I could care less about non-consumed dyes. I think having to craft or buy them is a legitimate mechanic. But yeah the rest is pretty accurate. And unlike the last poster, it is a legitimate use of the devs time, since "endgame is glam" as they themselves have said.

Glamour is fine as is. I like it this way, so I'd prefer they not change it, rather than having to go through some arbitrary nonsense everytime I change jobs.

It's not perfect, but it's better than no glamour at all. As for restrictions on gear, restrictions are necessary for AF and Job-specific gear at least, because that is the whole purpose of AF in the first place! It's meant to emulate the traditional appearance of that Job in past FF games (like a WHM's traditional appearance is a white robe or clothing tinged in red triangles, a BLM's traditional appearance is a dark blue or black robe with a yellow witch's hat and stripy pants, DRG's traditional appearance is purple draconic armour etc).

Allowing another Job or class to equip it, even for glamour, completely throws that whole idea out the window. Which is why the glamour system has Job restrictions on it. Given that Yoshi stated this ages ago it shows he's pretty firm on this subject (and rightly so), so I do not see that changing at all.

Couldnt they just allow to glamour log in zones? Like in old ffxi where you were able to change job only in house, they could allow glamour log only in homes/ins so that you dont have to bring a file save with yourself the whole time.

I didn't notice that the first time. Yeah, I agree with this. Goon glams are for goons, MCH glams are for Bards.
