I don't mean to be rude, but yes, what you're saying is true -- you can't finish the game unless you group up (which you clearly have already done if you're at Brayflox).

Your options are either to suck it up and run the dungeon with some others, or quit. It is exceedingly unlikely that lower-level instances will become solo ordeals; it's just not the philosophy of the design team (I imagine).

You don't have to use the Duty Finder if you don't want to. You could always try the Party Finder if you want a premade group, or you could see if someone is willing to run you through the dungeon unsynced -- though if you do that, you're essentially missing out on the entire experience of running the dungeon. My suggestion would be to find a friendly Free Company who will be patient with you if you're not so comfortable with group roles, and maybe to change to a role that tends not to come with as much pressure (DPS) unless you're really attached to Paladin/tanking.

Still dont like being forced to group with people. it should be a choice..... i shouldnt have my main story progression stopped and pretty much cant finish the game because im forced to group up.

This mentality isn't healthy in the longterm of the design of a MMO. MMOs have always been designed and balanced around group play and while there are mmos out there that have options for entirely solo play, FFXIV isn't one of them. You're in for a rough ride if your goal at max level is to solo. Good luck.

Well not every mmo is the same. They encourage team play here so it's really about if this is the game for you? I'd encourage you to stick with it, try a few parties and see if you enjoy the experience. But if it's a deal breaker then you may have chosen the wrong game.

Also if you would prefer a single player experience in an mmo I would suggest doing your research before jumping in. Join the forums and ask a couple of questions of the player base. find out what you're in for before you pay.

You can do most of the story alone, yes some of it you have to group up with other players to do ( or get a high level fc member, if you are in one to give you a boost in that dungeon. pre lvl 50 stuff mostly ) and well if you really don't wanna group up with other players to do a dungeon/trial etc every now and then, why are you playing a MMORPG?.

MMORPGs are made on the idea that you do stuff like dungeons with other players.

And the "rude people" you should simple put on your blacklist.

MMO does not mean "forced group" - it is a garbage argument. Group content is created for MMO's because there are some people who really enjoy it but forced anything is never a good thing. While I personally don't mind doing the group content for the story the OP does and I completely understand his opinion. A MMO has MANY social, MULTIPLAYER interactions that have nothing to do with groups or combat.

I know its a bit of a cheap answer, but: This is simply how this game works. This is the game the dev-team wants to make - they're using the dungeons to tell parts of their story and they're having this idea of "go and gather your adventurer buddies to defeat this giant boss!" To me it seems like a very conscious choice to have the game work like this and if someone doesnt like that, they're probably better off not playing this game instead of "demanding" that its changed to fit their needs (you werent excatly demanding it, I'm aware of that but it can easly come off like that).
I'd like to see the story of Alan Wake, but I dislike shooters and that whole action-genre that this game falls into - maybe I should contact the devs and ask them to remake the whole game in a way that fits my needs...

If you've found other games that suit your prefered gameplay more: Great! If this game isnt - to bad.
Personally I grew to like the dungeons and trials as part of the mainstory and I wouldnt want to miss them - dungeons are somewhat more intresting than solo-instances to me and I was actually pretty disappointed when something in the latest story turned out to be a solo-instance instead of a trial. In addition to that I also dont believe that the devs should make several version of the mainstory, just in order to meet everyones potential needs.

This is how the game is - and your request is related to a core-element, I'd even say. Its not a small or easy change or anything like that, its pretty drastic and it actually seems that you'd prefer a sologame - so why not pick one of the countless, countless sologames out there?
