Balmung HaHa. Balmung and Gilgamesh are going to melt the login server blocking 3/4 of Aether.
What should have been discussed is a brand new server untouched. The dead servers should have had to been merged opening a fresh server up. If we are discussing some sort of compromise all sides should have to make concessions. Another decent thing would be for Balmung and Gilgamesh to be their own Data center.

I personally don't care what they do to cut down the data center explosions as long as they do it. I'm sick and tired of losing gameplay time because those two servers were aloud to grow to game breaking size and nothing has really been mentioned until now.Balmung HaHa. I've been on for about two-ish three hours and haven't noticed anything yet and I live in Ohio. /shrug
I'd imagine there's even more people in Balmung and Gilgamesh now than there were when Heavensward released.
As a Balmungian myself. This.
We know the drawbacks to being on a high pop server. Look at it this way, we endure potential server queues while 95% of servers deal with RMT spam. I think it's a fair tradeoff.
I suppose you can guarantee I'll have a house, hmm? Because I happen to have one now and the reimbursement fee means nothing to me. Luckily, I didn't have to buy one from a scalper, but I may not be so fortunate a second time. Regardless, mandatory transfers are useless. Do you not think people won't just congregate somewhere else? Say SE did force people off Balmung and Gilgamesh. Okay! The raid population opts to move to Sargatanas and the roleplayers all go en masse to Mateus. You've essentially renamed the mega servers.Solution: Mandatory transfers off of high pop servers.
Before you complain you'll understand that I play on mateus, one of the unfortunate servers that's has to suffer data center reboots and maintenance because of the stupidly high congestion on BOTH Balmung AND Gilgamesh. A lot of the other servers are small yes, but that does not change the fact that we are subjugated to downtime forced upon us because of those two servers.
You lose literally nothing and perhaps even gain stuff by transferring off. The fee is waved and you can transfer all your gil and you're given a 100% housing refund plus an extra for lost furnishing.
You can't even use the "friends" excuse because ALL transfers AWAY FROM these servers is free. Who cares if there's not labels on servers? People will always hate on something.
If people ignore this golden opportunity I propose that high pop servers have their monthly sub increased by 25% to compensate for all the inconvenience for the rest of the data centers and extra maintenance these servers require.
Keep in mind, while the incentives are nice. An important omission is the 100% EXP buff. For those who have a house and roots on Balmung and Gilgamesh, why would they care about transferring gil? They like where they are. The one potential incentive would be easier levels for those who don't have all their jobs at 60. Even going that far, I'll cite myself and say I like Balmung. I have plenty of friends who are equally uninterested in leaving; both of the PvE, raid and roleplay variety, and I prefer high populated servers. Simply put, I am not interested in this "golden opportunity."

Seriously, if you're pissed that Balmung and Gilgamesh being so populous is breaking your gametime on the same datacenter, then YOU transfer instead of demanding happy players bail on the server they /want/ to be on.
Nothing about this should be mandatory.
