I'm sure it's futile to hope... but this would be the best time for SE to designate Balmung with some sort of RP flag.

On live letter they seemed to be leaning heavily towards not "officially" designating any server as RP anytime soon. Seems they do not want "conflicts" between RP er and non RP ers, ie RP ers trying to tell non-RPers to get off their server if hey wont RP etc. So doesn't seem likely to happen.

I don't understand the whole conflict deal. I mean there is already conflict between non rpers and rpers on balmung as is. I mean try being a rper for a day.....and wait for all the people parading around in ghost costumes, emote thrusting at you, using ring a thorns on you while your rping, telling you to get out of here with that rp, being stalked by a person while invisible, being holy spammed on. I could go on....really.


I mean rpers are generally not going to push anyone to rp and our generally not going to tell people to get off a server if their respectful. Its gotten bad enough that most people rp in there estates or in a linkshell at his point cause the abuse is so rampant.

And it would go on even if the server was flagged "RP." That sort of thing only seems to make the sort of people that harass RPers even more likely to do it.

I mean its not something you can escape there will always be an rp troll that's just the nature of things. However I disagree with you on the other point. In balmung the fact that is not label enables those trolls to be validated by others in the community for there actions. This fact then cause them to do it even more for validation from their peers on the server. However if there was an rp tagged server they may be less enthusiastic about going on and causing trouble when a whole bunch of more rpers exist and have the majority. It also requires more work making a new character on a new server and unlocking teleportation so they can get to the hubs to do the trolling in the first place.

So unless there really dedicated, I don't see to many of them actually bothering with it unless they have a personal vendetta. Its better they do this now... then have to do something community destroying to balmung to cope with the server stability and stress, like being locked for the entire year.

If this is taking place report them. It's considered a form of harassment and griefing.

Then you don't go out into the actual world enough. There's been several, several times while out flying around leveling, fate grinding, or some form of farming mats that I've seen people RPing outside a capital. Is it a constant? No, but it does happen.

yeah my example wasn't prolly the best worded, i just meant Yoshi sounded like he felt giving the server the official "tag" would validate one side over another. Keep in mind there will always be some culture "shock" for this game and Japan is very non-confrontation, just look at some of the pvp changes to see an example. If they feel a change is going to "escalate" hostility they will not consider it, even slightly.

ahh, weird i was always of th impression that RP servers in wow were heavily "supported" as RP, including up to being able to receive some disciplinary action for not rp ing being seen as a "harassment" >.> Still idk much about RP servers in wow personally though, just what ive heard from others, and wont lie those ppl were the trollish types <.<

Making a new RP server would be fine, I just don't think they should mark a current server as RP. I can understand the fear about the toxicity because most of the posts I have seen have been "Make the server RP so other people will transfer off." and I am of the mind that if you are the one wanting segregation, then the onus should be on you to move, not to expect other people to move.

Yeah Balmung could never be an official RPing server. It is a legacy server, legacy players got stuck with rpers. But a new server should be fine and would have been good to try to split Balmung that way. But maybe they are hoping to fill the wasteland servers instead of closing them.

Making an official server for any special gameplay would be the most costly thing to do. Shall we make a seperate gather and crafter server for people who dont want to bother with battle classes? People who RP just need to realize they're their own worst enemy, if you have 8 different characters strictly for RP, and you're using housing/apartments, you're hurting your servers limited resource.

Not to mention any time someone wants to create a new character, that impacts name availability, and server que times, Balmung essentially created their own problems, the legacy players kinda got shafted with all of this, as sad as that is. Balmung will likely never smooth out for the better, especially with 4.0 around the corner, I don't see it opening back up for years.
