How can you have an issue with an instant cast stoneskin (15% max HP) usable after every cure 2 and a on 15 sec CD. Calling Plenary Indulgence bad design seems odd.The problem with this statement is that it leads into an extension of the Golden Patch fallacy, because you see something that may look like shit but then get convinced that it'll be better upon release because it's not the final build. Most of these mechanics are already in place and committed to, and we won't see any major changes in design for about 2-3 years until 5.0 is announced (only for them to once again cling to vagaries and info dumps instead of talking about what they plan to do with the jobs ahead of time). At most you might see number tweaks, but things that have issues in terms of design (Confession + Plenary Indulgence) are not going to drastically change in a couple of months.
As mentioned by the poster below you, you're confusing Diving Benison with Plenary Indulgence. I'm still wondering why go for a fancy name when they could have just called it Stoneskin. I think that would mollify some of the people who complained about losing abilities, since one could argue that it got repurposed rather than removed.
* The sad thing is that FFXIV turned RDM into a turret, and people think that's what it's supposed to be. It's supposed to combine sword and magic into something more, not spend the bulk of gameplay spamming spells and jump into melee for only 3 GCDs before scurrying back to the back line like good little casters.

I think a lot of the freakout is from boredom waiting for Stormblood. I know I've spent a ton more time on the forums recently because I want Stormblood badly lol
To be fair, we can blame him for this mess. The reply to these changes is "It'll make sense once you play the game." Why didn't Yoshi-P talk more about the changes to the content rather than changes to the jobs?
Not exactly. Using the same example what really happened is the chef gave you something to taste, you tasted it and it was nasty... and the chef got defensive and said it wasn't finished yet.
Don't get me wrong, I don't agree with the absolute insanity of the players reactions. However if they didn't want feedback, they shouldn't have shown us what they did. Unless they DID want feedback, we gave it... and now made changes to it because of the feed back. Who's to say whm wouldn't have stayed that way if we were completely quiet
Nah its more: the chef shows you your meal, you say "bah, that looks nasty" and he replies with "Its not finished yet and you havent even tasted it!"
but people have tried it, and a description of its function was presented. so it's more like it was described as being included with several nasty ingredients and the disrecommendation of several people.
Marketing people are not necessarily asking for feedback but they will get it so they should expect it.
There are many cases where the person creating the marketing material and the person creating the actual product are not on the same page.
