From what it sounds like, I think that implementing this feature causes a delay in the animations, giving the illusion of more lag when it's right in tow with how the client & server are reacting. But there are a lot of questions for this, like how does this affect enemy animations, etc. Could it be easier to get out of Plumes & Cracks, but more sluggish when activating abilities?

Like others have said, if they want the community to make an informed decision without pissing a bunch of the playerbase off, they should provide a video showing each scenario side-by-side.
