Should we eliminate the Need/Greed System and just roll for 'antique gear' like items

During one of the patches in the 2.x series, there were a couple dungeons that dropped gears unspecified to any class that you can then exchange for the items you need in Mor Dhona.

I was thinking maybe we can implement that similar techniques again rather than having the need/greed system.

Each dungeons would have it's own gear name of course and just exchange it in Idyllshire.

I am curious as to why they never continued that other than those two dungeons. Seemed like a good system to me.

Because the items you got in exchange for those items were job specific gear. There's no reason to keep job specific as an RNG drop in a dungeon. For 3.0, they moved job specific gear to hunts and centurio seals.

If this happened you would be competing with 3 other people for every single drop and even if you really needed the gear to increase your iLv, most of the time they would be lotting purely for GC seals, desynth or glamour. It wouldn't be a very good system.

That being said, they are already making changes to the way gear drops in dungeons so that more job appropriate gear will drop so it will be easier to get the gear that is needed.

If everyone can roll Need on it, then it will reduce the chance to win a roll because of higher competition.

The system is working fine how it is now. People are just picky and want to have an even chance even though they don't want to do runs as that job. If anything people need to realize that if they need gear they should play that role or at least ask for it and see if people can pass. As for the relic gear you trade in, it's old relic gear so they made it that way instead of trading tomes for it which makes sense.

I don't really mind the rng for most stuff. I just wish on the last boss the loot was personal instead of group, that way if you blow all your rolls in the dungeon you get something at least. It seems logical that the boss would have more than one thing lying around to steal.

Last thing we need is ANOTHER currency clogging our inventory. This would also be a pain because as others have said, you'd be rolling against the entire party for gear you need and they just want. The reason for need/greed is so if you need gear, you go as the job you need gear for or go as another job and take the gamble on greed.

This actually sounds like a perfect idea for 4.X. Let me explain. They've previously stated that odd numbered patches would only have one dungeon added. That means gear for every role, crammed onto 3 bosses. With tokens you could have belt and gloves on first boss, head and boots on second, chest and legs on third. A full set of gear drops every dungeon, and you've got a 1/4 chance for each piece. The normal method would mean that each boss has nearly 20 possible items on their loot table, and a measly 1/10 chance that the item you'd like would appear. Which would you prefer?

Why is this thread even a thing?

They said that in every lvl50+ dungeon at the end of the dungeon everyone will get one piece (not already in their inventory) for their job.

Imo that makes it easy enough to obtain wanted gear.
