You do know it doesn't take DS into account rightStone Sky Sea is a great tool! Unless you're a dragoon. You can't efficiently practice your rotation as a dragoon there because there's nobody to tether. Whoops. So it's not even a tool to practice your rotation unless you spend Ghysal Greens to have a chocobo sit there and be tethered. But that breaks the dummy entirely since it's not balanced around Eye of the Dragon; I killed the v4s dummy with mostly 320 gear, unmelded, and with the Susano weapon because of it.Definitely zero chance s/he knew that... Definitely...Stone Sky Sea is a great tool! Unless you're a dragoon. You can't efficiently practice your rotation as a dragoon there because there's nobody to tether. Whoops. So...you're saying her anecdotal evidence doesn't invalidate somebody else's opinion, fair enough. Then turn around and say that your anecdotal evidence is enough to validate their opinion?Your anecdotal evidence is not the same as someone else's. Just because you haven't seen it doesn't mean it doesn't happen and doesn't make that person's experience or opinion invalid.
And just so you know, yes I have seen that and more and I've played my fair share of MMOs. HyperSMB's concern is valid.
No. Anecdote can neither validate nor invalidate a concern.
How should guides be made without a parser?
Theorycrafting is nearly impossible without. It already takes hours, days, weeks, to work out those accurate rotations and optimal combinations of skills. Add at least the double time investment without a parser. It's unfair PS4 players can barely take part in it.
I am all up for an optional personal parser and maybe an optional group parser only for ex primals and savage raids. So when opening a PF for Omega savage you simplay say "parser used" and only people comfortable with this should join. Whoever doesn't want that can simply open up their own pf.That way players can decide what they want and still play as they please to without being forced. Pretty fair.
Add:
Like some mentioned those "skip soar" parties we had when Zurvan was new, I never understood what the problem with those parties was.You are either able to put out enough damage to help the party to skip the mechanic and join the party, or you don't and find another one or open up one yourself.
Same goes with the rants about PFs wanting a high ilvl. If you don't have the ilvl, why are you mad about the individual who is asking for that for their party? Just open you own PF. o.o I really don't see a problem there.

I don't know, man.
If you can complete SSS dummy than you know your rotation. You should also know if you're hitting your rotation. You know when you're mucking it up and also know when you are nailing it. So I don't see any need to have a DPS parser when others have said that there are tools to gauge whether or not you know your rotation.
If that means I'd get DPS that actually have something to show off, then I'm more than happy. Devastating majority of pugs have pathetic numbers and there is no way to tell it to them without taking notes of their performance mid-fight.

Problem is, that most people, when they see a player parsing very low, are not even trying to help. they simply begin with insults, or straight kicking player out of group, instead of trying to communicate, telling to look up rotation at a certain website, etc.
i had a firsthand experience in ESO, where they officially allows addons and even have personal parcers in game. I've experienced so much rage towards myself, even though i wasn't even highest level yet, it wasn't a high end duty, and it is a first damn week i even play this game, because these nice people compared numbers and began laughing at me.
i am more for a grading system. such will be challenging to implement though, so let's just keep to Sss and forget about whole parcer thing
There's nothing blinder than the eyes that don't want to see
Anything to get people to realize they aren't as good as they thought they are.
I don't want to be a jerk about it, I don't want to be an elitist. I'm happy to play with poor performers, but it's upsetting they don't realize their own poor performance.

said it before I'll say it again it's a bad idea.
Perhaps keeping it gauge-like, personal only and usable only in extremes/savage? :/ Maybe a grading system as well, as perhaps numbers in a void might not mean much in certain fights/phases.
I like SSS - really, I do. But it just stands there while I beat it down, does not hit me back, does not lay ground aoes all over the place for me to avoid WHILE doing damage. Sure, it tells me that my opener and base rotation are *theoretically* enough to beat x instance, but its usefullness doesn't go beyond that.
