Stone Sky Sea is a great tool! Unless you're a dragoon. You can't efficiently practice your rotation as a dragoon there because there's nobody to tether. Whoops. So it's not even a tool to practice your rotation unless you spend Ghysal Greens to have a chocobo sit there and be tethered. But that breaks the dummy entirely since it's not balanced around Eye of the Dragon; I killed the v4s dummy with mostly 320 gear, unmelded, and with the Susano weapon because of it.

It's also worth mentioning that the dummies were never rebalanced for any buffs or nerfs. To kill the v4s dummy as a ninja is an accomplishment of luck and gear power, since it was balanced before the gust slash nerf came out. So even then, the dummies no longer tell you if you're putting out enough to beat a fight.

That aside, the SSS dummy remains a static dummy and, like everything else regarding parsers, has not only been discussed to death but dismissed to death. It doesn't show you what combinations of your party / GCD placement in certain places grant you the greatest returns in a specific fight.

I am all for dps/healing/mitigation meters being put into the game, but only if they put all three in. If dps jobs get to see how well they are doing, why shouldn't tanks and healer's be able to see their numbers as well? WoW did this with add on's so it is possible. This biggest hurdle would be incorporating it for ps4 users. If everyone saying DPS meters mean to include the above, then my post is a mute point.

Overhealing percentiles and active rates would be nice too, and the ability to toggle between actual damage and relative potency...

    Too much?

Remember "Skip Soar" ? Do you really want to give these people a tool that's ripe for abuse? How about the current meta for endgame, there are people excluding jobs. I get the good intention, but nothing good is going to come of it when given to people who want to abuse it.
Requesting that your party has enough dps to skip soar isnt abuse. Especially when all that implies is "know your class well enough to execute a basic opener."

Dummies literally tell you inaccurate information for one. They dont tell you what your dps is while executing mechanics for two. And for three, beating a dummy with 1 second left means nothing when in reality you should be beating it with 30 left.

People keep putting these things together, like "Hey, I did gud! : o" = elitism.

I've yet to see that even once.

I've seen friendly competition. I've seen joking self-deprecation. I've seen "I really need to position better before -----."

Never once seen elitism out of it. Even in WoW, Rift, Tera, etc., with longtime sanctioned parsing and on as often or tightly DPS-checked raids, numbers come up only after qualitative measurements like "adds aren't dying fast enough." And guess what, we're perfectly fine with kicking people based on their gear or enmity even without actual data to tell us that someone's underperforming. So unless making that process fairer, or providing more in-depth, rather than guess-work, data around which to improve against mechanical checks is "toxic"... I'm not seeing the threat here.

Your anecdotal evidence is not the same as someone else's. Just because you haven't seen it doesn't mean it doesn't happen and doesn't make that person's experience or opinion invalid.

And just so you know, yes I have seen that and more and I've played my fair share of MMOs. HyperSMB's concern is valid.
