    Are you sure you're not confusing one of the 1.0 Limsa Lominsa story quests for 'PvP'? One 1.0 Limsa quest featured a cutscene showing a naval battle at sea between warships of the Knights of the Barracuda and the Serpent Reavers.

    I've never heard anything mentioned of any plans to add PvP to 1.0... but having said that, there was plenty of stuff that Tanaka bandied about during 1.0's original development that nothing ever came of so it wouldn't surprise me if 'battleship PvP' was one such concept that he never had any real intention of adding. I think it's safe to say it will never happen now I'm sorry.

    EDIT: and it seems watching that video it was indeed a concept that Tanaka's team considered but scrapped early on (probably due to the myriad of issues 1.0 suffered from in Alpha and Beta just plain distracted everyone involved, and eventually got quietly dropped.

    Either way, airship construction in Heavensward is probably the spiritual successor to this idea.
