    1.0 Epic PvP Plans... anyone else remember?

    Was talking to a buddy and this came to mind. Was curious if anyone had anymore detail/images/dev talk about the original PvP the old dev had.

    Don't get me wrong, we all know 1.0 had its faults... but I remember minor teasers and plans for a giant PvP that involved creating and maintaining battle ships as crafting/gathering classes while the combat classes go to battle.

    Of course I'm sure it got scrapped, but man it sounded epic.

    Yes, there was a short video showing a battle ship attacking another.
    The video also showed crafting with multiple players.

    It was during a small event for the release, so it's hard to find it.

    Nooo hamlet was towards the end and made by the new team I thought.

    This was planned waaay before yoshi came in. Think it was talked about in early release

    Are you sure you're not confusing one of the 1.0 Limsa Lominsa story quests for 'PvP'? One 1.0 Limsa quest featured a cutscene showing a naval battle at sea between warships of the Knights of the Barracuda and the Serpent Reavers.

    I've never heard anything mentioned of any plans to add PvP to 1.0... but having said that, there was plenty of stuff that Tanaka bandied about during 1.0's original development that nothing ever came of so it wouldn't surprise me if 'battleship PvP' was one such concept that he never had any real intention of adding. I think it's safe to say it will never happen now I'm sorry.

    EDIT: and it seems watching that video it was indeed a concept that Tanaka's team considered but scrapped early on (probably due to the myriad of issues 1.0 suffered from in Alpha and Beta just plain distracted everyone involved, and eventually got quietly dropped.

    Either way, airship construction in Heavensward is probably the spiritual successor to this idea.

    Frontline looked so promising. I would love if they added more elements to it like this old artwork suggested.

    This gave me WoW world PVP vibes. Winter grasp / Tol Barad. You win, your 'team' gets access to a special raid/quests located at the top area. I was excited for it. But they over-hyped a lot of 2.0 during the development stage....very sad as a lot seemed interesting (though not functional at all, Primal summonings would never have worked well)
