How to: Gatherers will join Palace of the Dead. You will gather from Nodes all over the area. As you gather materials a meter will build. Once it is full you can proceed to the next floor.
The only problem I see here is that this would be too much of an incentive for bots, as other games have done this, even had entire instanced mining dungeons.

Like a DoL/DoH version simply needs mechanics to it that incentivize doing things. Remember that DoL already has a stealth ability. eg, a DoL version could require mining the correct aetherial fuel/energy for mammet automatons, and harvesting aetherial mushrooms or something for Botany. Fishing is a little too complex due to the bait mechanic, though I suppose you could collect "aetherial ghost bait" and do something ala ghostbusters and capture ghosts to make the mammet automations go faster. If everyone stands around and does nothing, eventually the automaton stops in it's tracks and shuts down, which then requires gathering twice as much materials to start it up again.

A DoH version takes the other side of this angle and requires repairing the automatons. So you could have a party of either DoL, DoH or both. So each DoH could repair one kind of thing respective to it's class. The automaton's armor, weapons, energy systems, etc.

Basically a PotD for DoL and DoH is like the game lemmings. You need to get at least one automaton to the 10th floor, and you start with 8. A DoH person can also disarm traps, use fix/use cannons, fix/pull levers, and so forth. A DoL person can pull fixed levers, use undamaged cannons, push weights to pressure panels to open doors, and so forth. If you get a party of only DoH, then shortcuts by fixing levers to open secret passages would be the ideal. If you get a party of only DoL then you're leveraging trying to make the automation faster by using gathered materials on it. DoH can't harvest materials, they select "fix" from the activation menu and they are given materials to fix it. If the materials are destroyed, then they get a debuff preventing fixing it for 30 seconds.

The option to "steer" automatons can be done by both DoL and DoH, select the automaton and hit "follow target (self, or party member)" to get them to follow you through a secret passage. Automatons will automatically fight anything that hits it first unless "attack target" is selected.

If a trap is activated and the automaton is destroyed, then as long as there are others, the next floor can still be reached. If all automatons are destroyed the duty fails.
