I just use the gender of someone's character as the basis for selecting how I refer to them via pronouns etc, unless I know rl gender. Probably shouldn't play a female character if that bothers you that much.
Dry humor is difficult to convey through text. A lot of people don't get it either.

Yup. When I first went Au Ra, I was massively disappointed. I mean I get it, you'd have to basically redo all your interactions with her and/or you yourself should be met with enormous hostility during the 2.0 Coerthas section and both would be a pain in the butt, but it really kind of put a damp noodle on the immersion of being a dragongirl and is a reason I drifted away from it.
Hopefully the Xaela of the Steppes at least see fit to comment on you, if you are one.
Always remember, please be careful.
Its even more painful if you later get to know that Au Ra are even killed in Ishgard or some regions of it. Yet there was no real hate towards my character. (Other than the distrust against any WoL) So I really hope that they change it up in SB, especially since we are getting no new race anyway.
Letter from the Producer LIVE Part IX Q&A Summary (10/30/2013)
Q: Will there be any maintenance fees or other costs for housing, besides the cost of the land and house?
A: In older MMOs, such as Ultima Online, there was a house maintenance fee you had to pay weekly, but in FFXIV: ARR we decided against this system. Similarly, these older MMOs also had a system where your house would break down if you didn’t log in after a while in order to have you continue your subscription, but this is a thing of the past and we won't have any system like that.
You were the guest of House Fortemps. No one was going to openly screw with you without really good reason. Lore wise Ishgard is a really dark place. People get killed by for stupid reasons all the time either throught infighting of High Houses or religious zealotry. Its even more painful if you later get to know that Au Ra are even killed in Ishgard or some regions of it. Yet there was no real hate towards my character. (Other than the distrust against any WoL) So I really hope that they change it up in SB, especially since we are getting no new race anyway.
Again, its still not a thing for any race. All races are treated like their cultural norms are something they wouldn't know about. If anything Duskwight players not getting heavily discriminated against in Gridania is more jarring.
Speaking of special dialogue, there won't be any for those who play as highlander?
Since we're going to Ala Mhigo, I thought there would be at least exclusive dialogue for those who play as Highlander.

Oh I know that they could not do much against us but it is kinda sad that we did not see some kind of hate. I dont necessarily mean an attack, more like some verbal words. Just because we are under the house of Fortemps should not make us invincible to hate. And this is the city that hates and fights against dragons for centuries. I just cant believe that everybody would just say nothing at all to us.
So I hope that there is more special dialog for any of the races in SB.

I hope to see some dialog differences in spades. The AuRa especially could use it because I feel like despite being Fortempts guest, an unaware guard should have been like "Holy- that a lizard? In my city? Not today!" Though I guess adding dialog for every single combination of encounter and making sure it translates well could be an ordeal.
Especially falls apart when Yugiri covered herself and the WoL's tail is just swishing away in a bikini glamour.
You don't pay my sub! AuRa all day.
Ishgardians are pretty frosty to everyone and Au Ra aren't related to dragons according to scholars. A group of Au Ra were attacked by Ishgardian Knights but there is a great variation in how zealous ishgardians are. After all it is generally believed that Au Ra have no relation to Dragons and Ishgardian leaders would at least have a basic level of education.
They might do something but I wouldn't hold my breath too much. After all even Au Ra are going to be considered outsiders with the people we deal with. Even a Xeala on the Steppes will either be looked at as being from another tribe (and Xeala tribes are hardly great friends) or being someone who abandoned their tribe to go adventuring.
That's an artifact caused by not future proofing that dialogue though. The real reason Yugiri is wearing a disguise is because Au Ra models weren't ready yet. The real weird thing is that she doesn't comment on you being a Ninja until way latter.
