Maces, mauls, flails, one handed axes, scythes, whips, tonfa, kali sticks, nunchucks, quarter staves, crossbows, dual pistols, heavy guns, kusarigama.
The main type of weapon type I see lacking has been mentioned are one handed axes, maces, and hammers. There are lots of ways to go with it, a dps with a two handed hammer, a tank with a mace/axe and a shield.
A melee dps with a single axe or a single mace, I'd love that as I think the one handed weapon fighting style is grossly underutilized.

Welp, clipboard ate it.
Sword types can fill an encyclopedia.
Most games use a Slash/Pierce/Blunt system.
So weapons with Slash, are flat bladed weapons like swords, scythes,
Pierce are usually pointed objects like arrows, rapiers, crossbow bolts, small caliber bullets, spears and so forth
Blunt's are things like hammers and maces.
The game lacks any real player blunt weapons other than when you are equipped with crafting tools. That said apparently the pets and the Monk job are the ones that do blunt damage.

Whip definitely. Geomancer was going to be in 4.0 originally and they've always used bells. So that's a high possibility for 5.0

Just give me this

So let me run off the list of weapons from some of my job concepts:
*Spear/Harpoon & Shield (Viking)
*Maul/Greathammer (Green Mage)
*Soul (anything based off FFTA Morpher)
*Pole (Dancer possibility)
*Tonfa (also Dancer possibility)
*Saber/Dual Sabers (Blue Mage)
*Crossbow/Dual Crossbows (Ranger maybe?)
*Pistol/Pistol & Bomb Kit (some sort of Agent job)
*Single Dagger (Juggler)
*Coin & Cane (Merchant)
*Grandscythe (whatever would qualify for that "necro" caster title)
*Bell (Geomancer)
*Beacon (Time Mage possibility)
*Scepter/Scepter & Focus
*Bazooka/Hand-cannon
*Strand (what I used for the Saint concept I posted on these forums a while ago)
I'm sure there are even more possibilities than just that. The only thing I would intentionally exclude is the whip, mostly because of how much of a nuisance it usually is to create fluid weapons.
also whips and bells are cannon in the FF games
I am definitely here for whip wielding BLU. Pls SE pls.

Bells for Geomancers.

Bag !
in FFT only , the female can give you some hit with that it was a strange weapon...
let's begin a collection of many bags so all can give some punch in bosses face :
That will befunny to throw at the face of someone ^^
Ps: It's not a bait but this weapon really exist in FFT ^^
Let's just keep in mind that weapon classes thus far aren't exact. Pugilists for example use "fist weapons". You could put dozens of weapons into that category, including a few of those suggested here. The "tachi" for instance is unlikely to be seen distinctly from the katana, no doubt being the better description for at least one SAM weapon skin, and the "(n)odachi" for a few others.
I'd rather a class be designed from a particular gameplay feel or XIV-specific lore identity first and its weapon integrated therewith, than for a weapon alone to excuse the addition of a class that may provide little new.
